found out my octavia only came  with the gunk and pump from new,i've since  managed to get a spare wheel and tool kit but my question  is can i use the pump as a normal tyre pressure checker or is just a rapid inflator.

There are several versions of the inflator, but most have a gauge (item no. 7) and an off / off switch (item no. 9), allowing you to inflate the tyres to your preferred pressure...

If not, the normal tyre pressure gauge is only a couple of quid from Halfrauds - Size of a pencil, so will easily fit in your boot tool kit.
