New Year New Issue

Featured Replies

Hi all. So started up the car this morning and long story short there is this ticking\rattling noise it seems to be coming from the area of the timing chain that side of the engine anyway now I had my timing chain changed a few weeks ago but I'm not sure if it's that or something else the car is driving fine this only happens at tick over or when pulling away slowing down so not accelerating as soon as I put the accelerator down it goes any ideas please ???

think you need to take it back to whoever did it,  is it a hydraulic tensioner ?  could be low oil pressure on tickover   needs checking

Seconded. That's a clear workmanship issue.

1.4 MPI has no timing chain tensioner at all.

The oil pressure sensor on the MPI is nothing more than a switch. If the oil light comes on with the ignition and stays off with the engine running then it's working OK.

Ahhh so it's not that then I will have it back in to the garage today that changed the timing chain I guess then only other thought I had was a sticky tappet but I best get it back in to the mechanic to check the chain etc Thank you for the replies.
