Touchscreen needs replaced. E50 909 605 B

Featured Replies

Can anyone  help please ?

I need to replace  my radio touchscreen E50 909 605 B.  The dealership quoted me over £400 for a new one . There is one on EBay  but it is part no. E50 909 605 H. Will this work in my Octavia  mk3 ? I've read about  coding ? Will this be an issue ? I have the little key things to take the screen out can I just unplugg the old one and put in a new one ?

Any help is greatly  appreciated

Thanks  John.

@Rustynuts might be able to help!

Do you mean 5E0 909 605 B  and 5E0 909 605 H, or are you sure the part number you have is E50 909 605 B ?

Ah, another mistake. 5E0 919 605, not E50 909 605

Sorry . Not great with all this.

Any ideas if it is possible  just to unplug  and swap.  Or is it a fools errand?

The letter at the end is rather important, as some Bolero infotainment unit screens have the same part number as Amundsen screens, but obviously will be missing certain buttons (Nav for example). So you'll need a screen which has the correct buttons fr a start. I can't find any reference to part number 5E0 919 605 H. Have you got a link to it?

Don't  know  how to link you to it . Hope this helps

It has right  buttons.  No Sat nav

No, that's no use. That screen is for an MIB2 unit and yours is an MIB1. The resolution is different so it won't display properly.

Why does yours need replacing?

I sprayed it with cleaner and now half the screen is unresponsive  . As lesson learned.

Thanks  for  your help Rustynuts .

Take a look here...

The seller has listed it as from a Rapid, but then in the details he says it's from an Octavia. It's a little more expensive, but should be the correct one if the donor car is an Octavia. The Rapid didn't use that part number.

Thanks  again.

Would you know if I buy this would I simply  unplug  the old one  and pop this one in place and it would work ? No need to recode it . Are the screens car specific,  lock to one car or are they just a screen ?

They're just a display/input unit. No coding required and it should just pop in and work. Be careful when you remove the smaller plug from the rear of the screen. They are a tight fit and can get damaged if you're heavy handed.

Thanks for all the help Rustynuts. Now I know  what I need to get and do .

Cheers mate

I'm not sure if there's a functional difference between ABT_Std and ABT_Std_Plus screens?

Just a thought, if you had the Columbus 8" display unit I could fit you a new touchscreen to your existing unit. I can also do the Amundsen 5.8" screens but they're rather more expensive than the larger 8" for some strange reason.
