Waterlogged ecu

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I got a Octavia 1.6 tdi with a waterlogged ecu so won’t turn over so I’ve got hold of a second hand ecu, clocks, keys and the convenience module

I’ve plugged everything in and the message on the clocks said there’s no key

is there anything I can do on vcds to sort this or to bypass the immobiliser

I believe that you will need the chip(s) out of the key(s) that is (are) registered with the ECU.

The immobiliser can be removed from the ECU by a specialist as I bought a remapped ECU with the immobiliser disabled, it would not have run on my vehicle without it.

In your case it may be easier to find someone to enable your key chips to the ECU if you cannot get the original ones.

I thought I had the original keys that came with the second hand ecu and clocks

I assume you kept the original lock barrels.

If so, how much of the new keys did you use, did you just swap the key blade or the entire front half of the key? If you did the latter, then you'll probably need to swap the transponder chips over.

i had the ecu, clocks. 2 keys, ignition barrel the 2 door locks and the fuel cap plus the cars ecu the 1 that is 12"x12" and has the 3 ports thats up under the drivers peddles

I think I'm going to need to book it into someone that has the dealer software to sort it

i swapped the ecu, clocks, the ignition barrel and the square controller up under the peddles

the only thing i can think of is they've given me the wrong keys to tally up with the ecu and clocks or there's something else that has got the immobiliser/key  stored in it
