Stereo faulty

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've got a 57 plate Roomster. Recently my stereo has broken and not sure what's causing it. It can work fine, turn off with the ignition etc then when I come back to the car next time it's turned itself on (this can happen even if I've turned it off before turning off the ignition). However it's not properly working, no audio- screen just says PHONE, and no buttons will work to change to Aux, fm, CD etc other than the eject button. It won't even turn off, have tried holding down the power button for a long time, sometimes this does nothing and sometimes it resets and shows 0000 (assuming it wants me to put in security code). As it won't turn off I've resorted to removing it's fuse from under the steering wheel to save it draining the battery, and if I return the fuse with the ignition switched on then the radio sometimes goes back to normal, only for it to repeat the whole process another time. Any idea what's causing this? I did replace the car battery recently but it worked fine for a period after I'd done this. Anyone had similar experience? Is it loose connection? Or is it something to do with electrics since changing battery?

Thanks!

C

Sounds like the unit itself is faulty. Not much hope other than a replacement unit. Having said that, if it hangs on a screen saying "Phone" then maybe there's a Bluetooth module which is causing the issue. Can you post a pic of the unit?

That is what I feared.. I don't have a bluetooth setting on the stereo, though I think there is some way to set up a form of hands free so I will look into that. This isn't stereo but this is what it looks like

Take a look under the drivers seat, If there's a phone module that should be where it's fitted. If you disconnect this and all returns to normal then you have a simple solution, just replace the module (or leave it disconnected if you don't us it).

Take a look here.

Thanks so much, I'll give that a go tomorrow morning!
