Convenience cornering lights...

Featured Replies

Ok, things clear now.

Bending lights are really good, sad that Kodiaq doesn`t have them.

It really doesn't. Until Skoda see fit to give us the active matrix LED lights that are fitted to Tiguan, we only get low speed cornering lights via the fog lights. The Kodiaq headlights aren't motorised to angle into bends, and the headlights don't have the matrix LEDs to allow extra LEDs to project into bends. There's a world of difference between real active headlights, and those fitted to the Kodiaq.

Unfortunately the term AFS has been misused by Skoda over the years. I think it is becoming clear that no current Skoda LED headlights have the ability to move side-to-side, but their ability to lengthen and shorten the beam is there, a feature classified under the AFS banner.

It might be the reduction in speed rather than turning the corner, but I can see two distinct changes to the light output when I turn a corner. A less noticeable change to what I believe to be dipped beam, followed shortly by the quite abrupt illumination of the static cornering fog light.

Either way, both these features combined make the lights very effective for me.

It seems that when the Kodiaq was launched, Skoda weren't particularly clear with their claims on the LED headlights fitted to the Kodiaq. The link above was also used in this related thread...
