In the past few days I have seen three Skoda Octavia vRS's with the front grill removed and a BMW replica grill fitted there instead. One can easily make out that the grill is made in some village in China.

Apart from the grill the owners have also removed the skoda badge and put a BMW badge, both in the front and the rear. Apparently the BMW badge is exactly the same size as the skoda badge. Very disconcerting to see the car approaching, cos for a minute one wonders "that seems like a new BMW", then realise that it's actually a Skoda.

Has anyone seen this kind of a "mod" in the UK.

And I wonder, why would someone do this? I mean whom are they fooling.

Nope.

In india the calipers are unpainted. I painted them myself. But mine is probably the only one with green calipers...cos most who get them painted get red.

Indians have an allergy to green color, it being the color of the Pakistani flag:P .

sam, ive seen the cars that youve mentioned, there was a black and a red both TDis with bmw grill and badging one had a 325i and the other a 535i haha.. its funny i really try to honk at them whenever i happen to come across and no theyre not made in china, theyre made very much locally right here!

Jesus changing the badges is the height of stupidity.

My indian Ex refused to drive a BMW and decided Mercs were better for the similar reasons given for the aversion to green.
