Kodiaq SE Technology / 5 Seater SE L & Edition - Discontinued

Featured Replies

From Skoda UK Customer Services:

"Thank you for your recent email to ŠKODA UK. Unfortunately, the ŠKODA KODIAQ SE L and Edition 5 seats are no longer available.

The vehicles listed below have been removed from production as of 03 January 2019:

OCTAVIA Scout
OCTAVIA L&K
KODIAQ SE Technology (five and seven seater)
KODIAQ SE L (five seater)
KODIAQ Edition (five seater)

The reason for this, is that we do not anticipate that there would be sufficient orders of this specification for the UK market. I am sincerely sorry for any disappointment that this may cause and understand why you would be interested in this product.

It is no longer available to order as a new factory order, the only availability we have at the moment is stock vehicles.

I would like to sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by this, I understand how important it was selecting the perfect vehicle for yourself."

I must have been lucky. My Edition 5 seat was built this week and is now at Emden. From what Skoda Customer Services told me, I think they are honouring all orders placed up to the beginning of the year.

Wow, got lucky with my order then. Placed 17th Dec for a 5 seat Edition.

Surprised there not going to import any further SEL 5 seaters, as my local dealer was selling a load of them. Last visit there where four awaiting collection.

Ignore the smoke screen about lack of demand for the 5 seat models this is all about profit margins as the 7 seater costs £1,000 more and they make more money compared to the basic model. Local dealer has 7 seater Kodiaq DSG in Velvet Red metallic (both expensive options) in the showroom for £32,800 in SEL spec 19" alloys with upto £2,500 off including test drive offer (£500) and Skoda contribution (£2,000). The higher the price and more options the larger the profit margin.

£30,300 for an SE L :o

You'd hope there is a good chunk of negotiation left on that car.

Presumably sales of the 5 seat Kodiaqs have been diverted to the Karoq, and the people wanting the Kodiaq's large boot are expected to pay for the extra 2 seats whether they want them or not. (And the Octavia is about to be replaced by a new model so they're running down the variants of that in preparation.)

Usually when models are removed from sale prior to the launch of a new model, it is forced upon the markets by the factory, presumably to increase ramp-up capacity or remove complexity prior to switch-over.

Given that these models remain available outside of the UK might suggest that this a localised (Skoda UK) decision.

Compare that to the £23,500 OTR we paid for our very well equipped Metallic Karoq. First year road tax was £160 and reminder just received for £140 second year VED.Averaged 46mpg so far over 11,300 miles, impressive for a 148bhp petrol SUV.

Just got off the SUK live chat and was told the 5 seat SEL 1.5 is still available to order with a 16 to 20 week delivery...

Both the SEL and Edition are certainly still available on the UK configurator today:

If 'removed from production on 3rd January 2019, are these 'Banked' & Stock Vehicles produced and on the way or already in the UK and still available while stock last?

(normally said on the configurators, 'while stock lasts;.)

No doubt Skoda banked plenty of 1.5 TSI's so lots of unassigned brand new (albeit frozen) 5-seaters sat in a field somewhere.

Were you able to add options i.e. a new fresh factory order?

You can add options and I presumed it would be a factory order...went with Crystal Black which must be a new colour option...

Seems like the usual Skoda LH not knowing what the RH is doing, to put it politely.

Here is a copy of an email that was posted on another forum.....

Dear Rob

Thank you for your recent contact regarding the ŠKODA KODIAQ SE L. Please accept my apologies for the delay in my response.

I am delighted to hear of your interest in the ŠKODA KODIAQ for your next vehicle.

I have discussed your query with our Sales Support Team and they have confirmed that from the 3rd January 2019 the 5 seat SE L and Edition KODIAQ has been removed from ordering. I apologise for any disappointment that this may cause.

Regarding the ŠKODA website still shows this model, is that we still will have some stock vehicles that are built and your local ŠKODA Retailer will be able to assist if any of the remaining vehicles meet your requirements. Contact details of all our ŠKODA Retailers can be found via the link below:

www.skoda.co.uk/find-a-retailer

I hope this information is useful. If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us on the number below.

Thank you for contacting ŠKODA UK.

Kind regards

Just because it is on the configurator, doesn't mean a dealer will actually be able to place an order with the factory.

Never stopped some of Skoda UK's biggest 'Retailers' (Motor Groups) filling in Order forms and even taking a deposit.

Weird, up until now Crystal black was an Audi colour.

You're right though, it's now on the configurator...

Black Magic Pearl Effect vs. Crystal Black Metallic...

Erm... :D

Obviously Black Magic Pearl, I may be biased however. Is this the new Brexit vote.:x

Might just be sheet dumb luck, but every Skoda dealer I’ve been into has used their computer and the factory ordering system. Not one has ever used an ‘order form’ for anything. And as I’ve said before, if anyone ever places a deposit on a car without seeing and confirming the output from the factory order system, then they are absolute bonkers.

Sir Arnold will turn in his grave at that.

Absolute bonkers might be a little excessive.

I ordered my car over the phone / via email and received a copy of the 'order form' through the post...

I did double check a couple of times my chosen options were noted, all turned out well.

Plenty have it all there ready to put in when they have a moment.

Like just after they have reached their target and the bonus is going to be coming through and it is time to start onto meeting the next target but they know it could be a lean month or quarter.

Then there is taking a deposit and the orders going in when the Finance is cleared. 'No problem there Sir / Madam just a formality....
