Nothing with a hint of being a Hybrid or a EV yet.

Che k out the Auto Express link @wiilydog posted further up. Allegedly on the horizon for end of this year.

LOL @ Autoexpress.    Their 'Factory insiders' play / string them along.

They would print 'VW Beetle EV discovered on the dark side of the moon' and put up a Photoshop image that a VW Spin Doctor provides.

For 'sneak pictures & releases' that are exclusives VW Group / Skoda use Autocar.   Haymarket Media Group, owners of Autocar, Whatcar, Pistonheads etc.

Owned by Lord Michael Heseltine and who VW Group are a customer of.

Vorsprung Durch Technik.

Good point about industry ‘leaks’ and ‘sneak pictures’, which drive me mad because they’re so obviously provided by the manufacturers themselves as part of PR campaigns. They don’t fool anyone, annoy plenty, and look like nothing more than publishers getting into bed with advertisers.

Exactly 'Autoexpress' are not part of Haymarket the VW fanboys.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_Media_Group

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Heseltine

Broker of Bentley sale to VW, given a Industry / Manufacturing / Car Industry responsibility by David Cameron when he was the PM.

Odd that Haymarket Media and Editors of their Journals were deaf dumb and blind to the Defeat devices.

They have Employees and Ex Employees that work for a 'Company' that were warning Government Ministers on the issues of EU Testing

and 'cheating'.

Autoexpress is just a reporter of rumour and guessing and il-informed speculations, then the feed to them taking up space stories.

Some end up being accurate and some never are, and Autoexpress just update an old story as new news.

Axing the Octavia Scout is a massive shock . Why do Skoda UK always give us the short end of the stick regarding some of the best cars Skoda make? I really wanted a new 2.0TSI Scout which was expected any time now but will run my 4x4 MK2 into the ground now instead.

Similar here our 2007 2.0TDI 4x4 has been and still is a great car and we would definitely be looking at another if it dies anytime soon.  Hopefully it won't now!

Just seen the Karoq Scout is now available in the UK....that would be the reason for dropping the Octavia Scout I assume. Shame.

Since the new emissions mean cars have to be grouped and options/wheel sizes mean additional  tests for each, I imagine simplifying is in their minds.

plus what is the point of testing these models, when the replacements will be ready before or about the time it is done.

RDE is a really big thing.

If that is the case the Scout will also be pulled from the whole European market as well. Do any of our continental members have evidence of that?

More likely just a plan by Skoda UK to push buyers into more expensive models in my opinion. Think the Scout with Adblue and TDI 150ps DSG7 was already on the configurator before they pulled it suggesting it had already been WLTP tested.

Hope the 2.0 TSI makes it here with 4x4 still albeit in SE L spec. Fingers crossed, there are a fair few 2WD models on autotrader already.

It's been in the spec document and configurator since December.
Granted that doesn't guarantee any will turn up here in the flesh, (in the metal?) though.

I've just ordered one, so it'd better turn up! Mind you a sales manager at a dealer I went to didn't know he could order these, but he checked and confirmed he could.

Awesome! Did you manage a test drive in a 2wd 2.0 TSI 190 1st? Quite a few dealers appear to have one as a demo but no 4x4s yet. What sort of delivery did they quote?

Its quoted as only 6.8 to 0-60. A map to 250-260 should see that coming down to below 6 seconds. I think a debadged and mapped one could surprise a few people.

No test drive, since I'd had a diesel Octavia Scout on PCH for a couple of years so know the car pretty well - in the knowledge that a petrol version will be better still imho. I've currently got a Yeti 1.4tsi 4x4 on PCH, but want to purchase this time around. My problem was finding a petrol 4x4, so jumped at the chance to get the 2.0tsi estate. Been given a likely delivery time of 3 months which suits me well given what's left of my PCH contract.

I quite like the idea of a slightly de-tuned version of this engine, should mean it's pretty unstressed, but quick enough when needed. I tow a small boat, and launch and recover it, so wanted the 4x4 and this larger petrol engine (compared to the 1.5 version) will be fine. The Yeti has towed well enough, and is a fair bit heavier than the Octavia, so the new one should be good.

I'm sure you're right about re-mapping, although not something I'd consider. Would the 190ps gear box and turbo be up to that?

Sounds like your use is pretty Similar to mine. I tow a 5.5 RIB weighing about 1300Kg. I currently have a MKII 1.9 TI 6 speed manual 4x4 mapped from 105 to about 140bhp and it has been a great car, coming up on 100k miles and mapped from 50k with no problems. The very low 1st gear is amazing on the slip and crawling in traffic with the boat in tow. Do you have the 184ps DSG or manual 150ps scout? Do you find the 1st gear very low?

No problems with the DSG box in the 190PS TSI struggling with more power. Its the 7 speed wet clutch box not the very torque limited  dry clutch box used in the old 1.8TSI.

I had the 150ps manual Scout and it was great for towing and on the slipway. I now have the manual 1.4tsi Yeti and it tows surprisingly well - both have low first gears which is good when recovering the boat. My boat is a 4.00m GRP hull with cuddy and only weighs 290kg. With engine etc I guess it's under 500kg, so I can tow on an unbraked trailer. Thanks for the info about the DSG box in the 190tsi Octavia.

I've been waiting over a year for the the new Octavia Scout to replace my 2015 model. Now on my 3rd one - it's been the perfect car for my job and regularly get 65mpg.  Just had MOT & service done last week and asked about changing it for another Scout to be told the news. I just can't believe it. Tried pushing me to the Kodiaq or Superb but they're both too wide to fit where I need to go, test drove the Karoq DSG but not impressed. Why have Skoda reduced the options so much - I don't want DSG or a larger vehicle with less space in it. Getting the latest Octavia as 4 x 4, manual & fitted out with all the options I want is not possible.

Looks like after 12 years & 5 new Skoda's I'll have to look elsewhere to find something almost as good as my trusty 4 year old Octavia Scout, shame really.

Maybe it's because they can't get the emissions low enough based on the new regulations coming in. Read somewhere that the scout was about 6 times the new nox limit

Would it really be much different to the "standard" 4x4 estates?

Well I started thinking about a potential replacement for our ageing 4x4 Estate the other month...   not a lot out there at the moment that ticks all the boxes but may consider a high spec Allgrip Vitara...

No but 4x4 have never been Skoda favourite in the UK because of what they do to their emissions average. It took Dieselgate and a bit of inertia afterwards to inroduce the petrol 4x4 to the UK.

L&K have not been that popular in the UK, personally brown interior never did it for me. You could get black L&K in a FL I believe but the trade-off was that front end

It is still possible that it is the usual pruning of old models prior to the new model. How may times have they 'discontinued' the vRS prior to a new model?

Yes what a shame the Octavia Scout is no longer availabel in the UK as a new car...

I just latched on to this thread reading about the demise of the Octavia Scout last January, I wasn't aware of this until today. I have a 2017 manual diesel Octavia Scout. Brilliant car which now has 40K on the clock, with one MOT behind it.  I bought my Scout from Rainworth Skoda, Mansfield with 11K on it. Looking to change it in due course, will stick with Skoda but not another Octavia Scout it seems after reading the thread.

I see the Karoq Scout is being sold and there are plenty of demo cars on sale at dealerships throughout the UK.  The car does appeal so maybe I will consider that when the time comes.  It looks like the Karoq Scout in diesel is only available as a DSG model.  I still favour diesel as my fuel of choice.

Cheers

The Octavia Scout was a higher riding 4x4 version of Octavia but with Karoq, isn't Scout just a trim? You can also buy 2.0tdi SE, SE-L, SportLine and Edition 4x4 DSG variants. Not sure what's different about the Scout other than a few pieces of plastic trim and fake wood.

Hello Scot5

Will need to compare specifications. No increase in ride height on the Karoq Scout version unlike the Octavia Scout and flash 19" wheels with lower profile tyres. Doesn't seem sensible that to me. Things added like external plastic trim for protection, electric sunroof, electric tailgate, rear camera, front sensors which my Octavia Scout doesn't have.  No doubt plenty of other differences. As I don't intend changing my Octavia Scout in the short term no worries at present. Not sure how a DSG car drives, not used to automatic cars as I have always has a manual box. It may not suit me.

Cheers

I suppose if luxury and comfort are what you’re after, why get the Octavia when you can get the Superb for virtually the same price?

Ultimately it will be a financial (sales) decision. They clearly weren’t shifting enough L&Ks in the U.K. market and I can understand why.

Well for my taste of cars only octavia L&K and VRS was the choice, and no, for Octavia L&K you can't buy same Superb, only basic Superb. For me Superb starts with sportline that has starting price 15t€ more and too many stuff missing in it. Petrol octy VRS is also with price going to deep in area of D segment cars so it is not a smart buy. I love my L&K except the ride quality that was terrible even with independent rear suspension,no DCC, fixed it with KW street comfort coilovers.

In UK SEL trim is well equiped so it explains why, but in my country top trim "Style" was missing so much equipment that L&K was cheaper in final😏

I'm sure Scout is just dropped ahead of Octavia IV. Here we can't factory-order hatches any more, it's estates only. Scout is still on the price lists. Octy IV due in the showrooms in three-four months. The runout models here are all "BusinessLine" with loads of kit - like heated wheels and Webasto - but nice pricing.

For anyone in UK desperate to buy my 2016 (66 plate) Scout I'm hoping to sell it on in the next few months.  As a matter of course I tend to change my car before it's 5 years old, so I decided to offer for sale. Now coming up to 45K miles you probably won't find a nicer 4.5 year old model.  See Briskoda Classifieds for more info.

There's no parting my wife from her 2017 Fabia 1.2 Colour Edition (Met Green) - she's only done 6000 miles in it so far!

Best wishes
