12 plate Superb estate - no audio & German labels on Infotainment system issue

Featured Replies

My infotainment system has suddenly changed all written labels and instructions to german and stopped any audio communications, so no audio Satnav, CD or Radio.  I understand basic German, so I can still navigate around but cannot get the system to revert to English or to resume audio.  For instance the radio will not tune and all presets are empty.  Any suggestions on how to resolve the problem? I suspect that a replacement system might be expensive!

Why do I find this funny?

Widerstand ist vergeblich, Engländer!! Wir haben die Kontrolle übernommen....

I think I would first try a hard reset by holding the power key down for 30 seconds and then a factory reset through the menus.

This is generally a software corruption, but occasionally can be something more sinister (read expensive). The simple fix is reload the Factory software, reload the maps, and then recode to the car again. If it's more sinister then it's generally a mainboard failure which causes the software corruption, and in that case the software reload fails and the unit is essentially scrap (mainboards and fitting/coding etc. makes it overly expensive).

If you want to remove the uinit and send it to me I'll see what can be done.

My unit has done the same, all in German! So watching with anticipation of a resolve! I’ve tried a factory reset, but same message appears ‘unable to load the required language’ using ‘google translate’ to use it at the moment!!

As above. If you want to send it to me I'll have a look.
