Hi we have an Octavia 2.0ltr TDI with 6 speed DSG box. Vehicle is making a kind of whuring noise when selecting drive or reverse, noise is not present when in neutral. Also when pulling away the vehicle seems to knock into gear. Has anyone had similar issue? Could it be a a clutch pack fault?

It could be a clutch pack issue. 

How many miles has the car done, and has it had an Oil change yet if past 40,000 miles?

I'm not sure about oil change but it has done around 80,000 miles

Dsg clutches are quite sensitive to oil changes. If yours has been left this long then I'd get it done asap.
