Featured Replies

I have one strange issue.

After successfully coding some stuff on my MK2 Superb, a strange thing happened.

I coded some setting regarding DRL for the car. After i clicked DO IT, the setting was set, DRL worked on where i set them to, but on the bottom side of the car, drivers side, the fog light and Reverse light lit up. And it stays that way, since then, only on the drivers side.

I tried reverting back to the original code, the damn lights wont turn off. Its annoying for other drivers, and i really do not understand what happened.

Tried to remove the battery for one hour, tried to check for errors, nothing comes up. Car drivers fine, lights work fine, except for those two, fog light and reverse light on rear light, drivers side.

I. Dont. Understand.

Can anybody help me with an advice ?

Is there an option with VCDS were i can turn off those lights, and maybe start them again, in order to reset them ?

Or any other option ?!?

Do you have the before and after VCDS coding to compare?

@langers2k is the man to help with this one!

Unfortunately i didnt save the log.

but i recon i recoded everything back on as i had pasted the initial code into a notepad until i finished. I didnt save it unfortunately.

Remember reading on other sites people having similar problems, when using a non genuine VCDS cable (Clone cable).

It is a clone indeed. Its not handy for me to pay 500 euros for a cable as i use it only for myself here and then.

Although it did not crash or gave any error at all, and i use it often to check the car.

Also did a service check with an authorised cable, and nothing comes up.

It wasn't very convenient for me to pay the full price either.

I feel you! Do you remember where the discussions were regarding those issues?

Does sound like you managed to change byte 18...

Check to see if a coding log was created to get the original lcode. If there is, try that lcode.

Be warned, if the original byte 18 was 00, you probably need to find a dealer or someone with VCP/ODIS-e to fix the light config.

Thank you!

if i find someone, they should know what to do when they see the coding?

Its just to know what to tell them.

If they don't know what there are doing, I'd be tempted to find someone that does.

It involves editing the BCM EEPROM it's pretty easy to mess things up...

So..long story short.

Checked the topic with “Lost Drl”, and saw that byte 18 was off coded to mine also.

changed it to 31, as it was an explanation list at that byte which explained exactly which code is for what type of car.

everything camed back to normal.

Thanks everyone!!!

Where did you find such a list?>

There have been a few floating around the net for ages now ;)

Quick warning, I don't believe the values in the list(s) are correct for all BCM revisions. In my experience, if the BCM had byte 18 set to 00, there is a good reason and none of the values in the list are quite right although some will be pretty close.

Anyway, you can find a version of the list in this thread:

I will make a picture so you can understand.

as an advice, like my colleague above.

i made a mistake , thats how i got into the situation. Dont mess with byte 18.

i am a happy example because i had the luck to make it again like in the first place.

As an off topic, did someone managed to code their lights like this?

when i hit the high beam to flash, the DRL, from left and ride of the fog lights , flash in the same time.
