Park Pilot - issue/switched off??

Featured Replies

Hi - picked up our 2.0TSI SE L today and didn’t think to check the rear parking sensors but have found out they don’t appear to be working. A beep emanates when reverse is selected and an overview of car is seen on the infotainment screen at that time but there are no further bleeps when close to objects and no ‘wavy lines’ of objects on the screen. I’ve been through the manual and trawled forums and not seem that the system can be turned off so I’m assuming there is an issue? Anyone had this before? Dealer shut today, Sunday, so it’ll be a Monday call if needed.
Thanks very much

The sensor noises can be turned down in the infotainment screen. Try looking to see if that is the case

Thank you. I forgot to mention they I’d already been to that area and they’re not turned down. I also get nothing on the screen to show that something is behind the car (the wavy lines). I’ve attached a couple of pictures. You’ll see red strikes through the bottom two symbols and I make the symbols change colour by tapping them but the red strike throughs remain. This seems significant to me? Thanks very much.

You're definitely getting close enough to objects for the sensors to see them?

The two symbols in the lower left corner with the line through are to tell you the Autohold brakes are disabled whilst in reverse and that the stereo volume is also temporarily muted so that you can hear the beeps over the radio.

Are you getting the orange lines that change with the steering angle?

Hello - I get no yellow lines at all but I can now confirm that I do get the amber to red lines when I am getting close to a vehicle. I was just expecting the lines that you identify on your helpful image. I also get the beeps now too so in conclusion I’m missing the steering angle lines.

The red lines through the Autohold and speaker are normal. This is telling you Autohold and the sound system are deactivated (muted) whilst Park Pilot is active.

That’s not correct, at all.

The (A) icon allows you to disable the auto emergency braking. The speaker icon allows you to mute the audible parking beeps.

Nothing to do with auto-hold or the media/radio volume.

Not strictly true either.

Deactivating the audible parking beeps reinstates the radio volume.
