I'm clueless how to remove rear view mirror surround on my Octavia MK3 FL VRS. I have the rain sensor version but it differs from the two guides in the Body work workshop manual.

 

Can anyone advise or direct me to a guide please?

 

I think the creaking noise I'm suffering in this car is coming from this surround so need to remove to investigate and maybe insulate with foam/padding.

my mirror assembly is slightly  different but i had a creak and ended up removing the cover using a very narrow thin blunt shim (victorinox card tool)  where the yellow arrows are added to the diagram (between piece 2 and piece 3)  in order to unclick the fasteners and remove the mirror casing to add in a little piece of foam to fix the creak/buzz i had

Problem I have is mine is not like either guide. There is a whole piece that marries upto roof liner then two pieces that go around front and mirror. There is no obvious gap to release and nothing wants to give?

 

 

 

 

Infact I think mine might be the same design as the suberb as I've found this image
