  • Just had a look on Autotrader now at 220PS Sportline estates.  A fair few <5k mile examples with some options ticked.  All well below the asking price of the De Lorean and that's without any negoti

  • Just been thinking about this on the school run...   I'd give this one a wide berth and carry on looking.  This smells as fishy as Whitby Harbour.

Unwise to quote VINs on a public forum, I would delete it if I were you

Wow, that is a barn find

I would ask some questions and just forget about the car altogether if it doesn't sound/feel right.  There's a healthy stock of used ones and with the few £K you're saving you could have every consumable changed, incl DSG, for added peace of mind.  Mileage shouldn't ever really be an issue, buy on condition and history (though I totally get the appeal of an unregistered, zero mile example)

That's when it rolled off the production line (or started production - it takes about 3 days I think to produce).

Could have been in a holding compound somewhere in Europe, could be one of those mysterious called back in for testing types. Could have been damaged and reworked. Unlikely that its spent all that time in the Uk.

Would check the condition of the brake discs for a start.

0 miles on the clock suggests its be reset, delivery mileage is never zero (new cars can go up to 100km and be reset, twice iirc)

I would be looking for a very substantial price reduction.

When I ordered my 1.4tsi SEL at the end of 2018, I got over £8k off list. I would expect a fair bit more for such an old production sportline - £10k at least

It's not mileage really , I think the deal is quite good. I will ask questions of course. I was always after a 220 TSI as it's a good compromise.

Must be a 230 surely. The production of the 220 model must have ceased over 2 years ago.

So I WAS RIGHT when I said it was made 2 years ago (2017) LOL slaps himself on the back!

So the fact that it was sitting there so long (if 5 miles is correct), does that have any impact on movable parts? bearings, I hope it wasn't literary sitting there not being switched on every now and again.

SHall I contact Skoda customer service and quote the VIN number for them to tell me more?

Go and have a look and see what you think?  If you like it and things are as close to what they can be as 'legitimate' then see if you can ask for a written report, containing the history etc.  You could always get your own independent inspection done too.

Air con seals could have dried out if not regularly used?:o

It's 100 miles away , so I really need to find out as much as possible before going there.

DO you know if it's possible to do all in one day. Sort finance and they to hand over the car to me?

I'd be wary. Need to know all about its history. I suspect this car has been back for major rework for some reason. Can't believe they couldn't have sold a White Sportline Estate in over a year.

Are those 2017 spec wheels?

Old stock, if at dealers, usually gets written down in value every 3 months after the first 6 months.

Not likely to have been switched on, it only got 5 miles.

Hope its got a new battery.

Worth remembering unless it's a keeper then short term depreciation will be hit hard as anyone can check when it was made and may put them off completely rather than when it is registered (2 completely different animals) After 18 months from being registered it will be almost 3 years old (tech wise as well/halogen headlights ?)

It's a keeper, I have asked for more discount (best) and then I'll return,

whats realistic? 23k? less?

So been in the dealer network 11 months.

I bet it had an accident or problem and some delay with insurance or Skoda UK.

Bit risky without knowing full explanation. Especially a keeper.

Beware.....You may spun a yarn....

Make them an offer of £20k subject to inspection and a full written explanation.

BTW have you test driven a Superb? It may not be what you imagine it to be.

SO basically they are making it sound like a good deal while still trying to rip me off?

Yes

Sales and marketing.

Car has been on their books for 11 months, Skoda factory and Skoda UK must be demanding payment by now so will be willing to deal.

Its described in the link as a used car, in the Used Car Section. Description, Tyre Condition New??? Strange?

Also Trading Standards would be interested as they were trying to hide the year of manufacture (shown as 3000) because they did not want to advertise it as actually 2017 because this would put off a lot of punters straight away, buyer beware when a dealer is blatantly being so obviously dishonest. What else are they hiding from you and others?:x

Way overpriced at the advertised price and Yes you have answered your own question correctly!

It could be a great buy BUT if you intend keeping, you need to dig, regardless of price. Don't risk buying a lemon.

Start very low, let them think about it, don't pay asking price.

Its an old new car...with unknown history
