Dealer:

All new cars have a set Volkswagen Group maintenance programme depending on age – this would have been followed to brand standards for this car

Unfortunately we cannot offer any other terms than quoted

  • Just been thinking about this on the school run...   I'd give this one a wide berth and carry on looking.  This smells as fishy as Whitby Harbour.

Walk away quickly and let someone less informed take the plunge into those murky waters.

+1.  That's strike 3.

Just had a look on Autotrader now at 220PS Sportline estates.  A fair few <5k mile examples with some options ticked.  All well below the asking price of the De Lorean and that's without any negotiating.   Lookers have 2 in stock that are low mileage and they have a 'sale' on at the moment too.

Or you could stop this 220 PS Superb nonsense right now...as there's a few well priced/spec'd 280's out there :D

You could sell him yours and buy the NEW 220 and save money on better fuel economy and cheaper insurance.

It might not be cheaper insurance though, the 280 is cheaper to insure than my 150 TDI Sportline....go figure!

I'll give you the running costs though...since I've only being doing urban driving over the xmas period I'm down to ~20 MPG but meh, it's sMiles Per Gallon right?  Or that's how I justify it to the accountant in my head.

@TonyTonic

Walk away. Simple as that. All the best gift horses pull on the heart strings and then leave you with years to regret how you got sucked in.

My Octy has 60bhp more yet averaged 41.4mpg on the commute today, go figure.

My suspicion / guess is it was to be going overseas to a right hand drive country to a member of the UK Armed Forces.

Got stored someplace, not a 'Show Car'.

Just a guess though.

I'd give this one a very wide berth Tony. Too many unknowns (and if it's real, 5 miles in 15 months is asking for trouble IMHO). You'd be better off with ex-demo / ex-management if you're looking for a lower entry price.

Only the dealer who have had it since Feb 2018 knows:x the truth, but will they tell the truth to whoever buys it?

Another thing.

Anyone buying it or leasing would be wanting to check the 5 miles.  That is after it is Reset from 'Transit' setting.

So it could have been at a UK Facility at some point for Emissions testing on a Rolling Road etc as has happened to some cars into the UK since early 2016 after the Emissions Scandal and happening still with cars coming in since WLTP approval.

Petrol in the tank will be a bit stale after 14 months, and if stored outdoors, seen the Beast from the East and a long hot summer.

Price isn't that attractive and sounds dodgy as hell so I'd go with consensus to walk away.

20k ish should get  a good used 220anyway. Got my hatch superb 280 sportline for that recently and very happy.

I paid 21k for a 220 decent spec with 6k on the clock.  Give it a miss plenty of deals to be had.

Not bad. Since it's a big sale, I'd go 25k. If you are after a keeper, I am sure I have seen 2017 ones with similar mileages at around 21k. Spec wise can't remember, worthwhile looking around as there are more 220s about.

26k can get you a 280 with higher mileage too.

I'd offer 23k...Then they can only haggle upwards!

Like @KeteCantek mentions, you're into 280 territory in the high 20s

I paid around that mark for a brand new fully loaded L&K 220 hatch which at the time (July 2017) was around £7K off list. Stuffed to the gills with kit. Still only done 3600 miles in it since then. Sure the one you are looking at is a slightly more expensive estate.

Whatever you decide to do then you will not be disappointed.

So you think this is a good deal? https://www.lookers.co.uk/skoda/used-cars/9517678-s-koda-superb-2.0-tsi-sport-line-5dr-dsg/

It's an estate so 1.5k more anyway, panoroof 1.1k etc

Brand new get usually better deals as you get the 3k finance contributions used cars don't get and they are giving me 8.9% APR anyway so I might walk away. Going on Saturday to take a butchers.

As they don't supply new 220s anymore it might be worth a punt. If you know the max you want to pay, make them a reasonable lower offer (not a silly one) and see if they will meet you in the middle.

If you've ever watched Wheeler Dealers have a look how Mike Brewer (the car salesman) works. They are always after a sale and will know there are plenty of used Superbs about.

Do you have a link to something I can watch?

Are you happy with yours? Fuel consumption reasonable?

Are you p/x'ing Tony? If so, the cost of change is the important number, not the headline price. There's no point in getting £5k off the ticket price if they then offer you £5k less than market value for your trade-in.
