Superb mk2 hatch false boot floor retrofit

Featured Replies

Maybe this topic exists, but what do I need to fit false boot floor in superb mk2 hatch?

I guess

DAA810001

DAA810002

DAA810003

Anything else?

I also guess that it is not possible to remove rear bottom part of the seats, is it bolted...or to fold it....

Did the hatchback / Twindoor ever get the raised boot floor? I thought it was for the estate / combi only.

I have never seen it in a hatch.

You could make one perhaps? this is mine in the estate

Nice work. You've given me bad ideas now :D

Yes, there is an option. But since OEM costs about 300 euros, I could get something in DIY version:)

quite handy to hinge legs that drop as you lift it too, they stay up with neodymium magnets. simple

Can someome tell me the depth on false boot floor, OEM or DIY, no matter, just want to know the size...it can be flat to match the loading lift, but I would like to make it little lower because I will put textile and rubber carpet on it and some other stuff above. I was thinking 20 cm depth?

I measured mine a few weeks ago with a DIY version in mind.

Bearing in mind mine has the load securing rails, the measurements are:

Width: 91 cm (between the rails)

Length: 110 cm

Rise: 7.5 cm from top of the rail to hinge of side compartment covers.

If you're planning to do this, you could use the existing floor mat as a template for your new one.

If I get time, I will do it tommorow. But maybe I exagereted with 19mm.MDF, fot the cover, 12 to 15mm would be ok. But it is ok anyway. I took the 110 cm×102 cm cover panel and 110×102 frame with 20 cm depth, but we will adjust it...I think i will separate the cover on 2 or 3 identical parts, similar as OEM...I hope it will not efect the extra weight of the rear part of the car too much...

12 mm plywood is what I'm planning to use. It's stronger and lighter than mdf and if you get marine plywood it's also pretty weather resistant. Where it might sag, I'll add some cross pieces to strengthen it.

Marine ply would be great for this - my brother has used it to customize the back of his van for carrying different loads. It has taken quite a beating between wet dogs, wet kids, horse riding gear, spilt liquids, dirty bikes....

Just get the edges of MDF wet once and you're done. It looks terrible and it will fail under load. I wouldn't use it.

this is one of the possible solutions. Lets say this was the trial (DIY action with a friend alongside the coffe brake:)

I exagereted: 20cm depth is too much, so this will be lowered to 12-15 cm

MDF 19mm is too much, so the cover will be 10-12 mm max

Of course, twindoor is not ment for VBF, and I dont have too much height in the boot when VBF fitted. So there will be some trials in the future.

This was only 20 euros, so I can make some shelf out this if not satisfied...:)
