Fabia 1.4 16V Air filter replacement? Haynes Manuals?

Featured Replies

Hello

I am new to the forum.

I have just bought a Fabia 1.4 16V [AUB] Comfort 2001. I was intending to replace the filters. After looking under the bonnet I have been totally baffled as to how to remove the large square plastic cover from the top of the engine. I presume the air filter is in it.

I have had a look for a Haynes Manual for this car for some guidence. Their web site states they are not intending to produce one. I was wondering does the VW polo or golfs use the same engine? I would use a Haynes manual for the VW to service the engine.

Please Help.

Thanks:thumbup:

To remove pull it up.

Then undo the screws underneath (they are even numbered) the box splits and you can replace the filter.

Thanks

I'll give it a go tommorow.

Any ideas on a maintainence manual?

I am sorry but I haven't seen any workshop manuals in english.

How ever if you're not afraid of german I can recommend the "So wird's gemacht - Skoda Fabia".

Even if you can't read german the manual is full of self-explaining pictures.

I have uploaded a few pictures to look at. They look like s... because I used the camera in my Nokia phone, but I hope that the pictures will give you an idea.

How to get it in UK I don't know, but perhaps on one of the litterature selling sites on the web (Amazon?).

Looks like the pictures have been lifted from the Skoda workshop manuals to me.

The site works exactly the same as the UK one, so filling in the forms and paying is straightforward. Took about 5 days to arrive.

Thanks for the responce Ole166 and Bryand. I am going to try to order one.

Lummox, I have tried to pull off the large plastic cover of the top of the engine today. Its the cover with the oil filler cap in the middle. It seems to be fixed ridged and does not seem to want to budge. Are there any secret fixings. Totaly baffling?? Any ideas or nacks in removing it?? Thanks

There arent any fixings, the whole cover just pops upwards off of rubber mountings.

The cover is the airbox.

Hi Gixxer.

Just a second opinion regarding the removal of the engine plastic cover.

According the german work shop manual the cover is actually fixed with two nuts.

Now I have uploaded a very bad picture of the cover (sorry!) with numbers on the essential places on the cover when removing it.

Removal process:

- Remove the Skoda logo (2) with a small screwdriver.

- Remove the small cap (3)

- remove the two nuts (4)

- remove the oil dipstick (6)

- Remove the cover by lifting it starting from the top (1).

- The oil cap should not be removed (5) during the process. Im a bit puzzled about that one??

Let my know if the removal is a succes.
