Phone Battery Icon

Featured Replies

On my previous Octavia 3's, the mobile phone battery state was indicated on the dash by a battery icon. Although the manual shows this same icon for the Karoq Edition I have, the dash doesn't ! I do get the signal strength shown, with the letters "LTE" - what does that stand for ? My car came without the phone charging facility - I wonder if that's the reason for the icon not being shown. Incidentally, the Bluetooth connection is fine, & the phone itself works perfectly , but I do miss the battery icon !

Yep, my Octavia's had the Amundsen which showed the green icon - the "Edition" has the Columbus set up, but surely should still show the battery state ? I still don't know what "LTE" stands for !!

I think LTE refers to the signal, in your case 4G

4G LTE means “fourth-generation long term evolution,” with LTE being a type of 4G that delivers the fastest connection for a mobile internet experience – up to 10 times faster than 3G.

more explanation

i've just been looking into this,  OH going to India and it talks of LTE, i had no idea but a quick Google shows LTE is Long Term Evolution ie the path progression to 4G as a wider description overall

My car does not have phone charging facility but green battery state icon is present

I have the Edition model. I don't have phone charging facility. The battery charge icon is shown in green to the left of the signal strength bars.

I've experienced the same issue on my Fabia. As far as I can remember, after pairing the phone again I was able to get the battery level correctly.

It depends on which Bluetooth protocol your car connects to your phone. If you connect via rSAP (Business Mode) then in effect your car is connecting to the sim card in your phone and not actually your phone. This is why the battery is not shown in the display.

If you connect via standard Bluetooth you are connecting directly to the phone and therefore the battery is displayed.

I think somewhere in the Bluetooth menu there is the option to choose which connection method. I think the default is rSAP if available.

Not all phones have the option but I do know that most Samsung models do.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the brilliant, so helpful replies. I tried my old Mk 1 Apple iPhone, so old it runs on gas, and the battery icon WAS displayed. I then tried an earlier Samsung Galaxy, which also showed the icon, so even a completely non teccy guy like me deduced it was the new phone at fault and not the car !

So, I now know what "LTE" stands for, and once it stops snowing, I'll be going out to the Karoq & untick the Business Mode box, which I had seen but didn't know what it was for !

Once again, many thanks for the information, I just love this Forum !

Eureka !! Thanks to you RichardPB, I now have the battery icon clearly displayed ! It begs two questions though ;

1) What is the rSAP (Business Mode) for, & is it any advantage to select it ?, and

2) How ARE non teccy people like me to know about these thing - is it buried somewhere in the manual ?

Hope you can help again......

remote Sim Access Profile...basically hijacks your sim which disables your 4g etc on phone so no streaming, at least in my '10 Superb?

just be thankful your BT module does both modes

us 'non techy' people post what look like 5yr type of Q's and pray someone answers who pities us  :D

or google....
