Window Regulator change - setting the stops

Featured Replies

Hi all,

im changing the window regulator and was wondering if the motor automatically stops at the top and bottom stops, or whether they need setting. I don’t want the motor to carry on turning and snap the new regulator.

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

for future reference the motor stops and starts and window at the top and bottom stops, I assume using an overcurrent circuit when the window can’t move any further.

Hi Tommygards,

I know you figured this out already but in case someone else comes upon this post:

Whenever the battery is disconnected, the window motors need to relearn the stops.  To do this, you manually hold down the button until the window gets to the lower extent, then hold up the button until the motor gets to the upper extent. This needs to be done on each window and the sunroof blind (if fitted).

You are correct that the motor current is monitored.

Morning, i notice you are changing the window regulator and wondered if you completed it yet and if so how difficult it was to do.

Thsnks very much

Hello.

Was relatively simple once I realised that the plastic dowels, which hold the window to the regulator, are actually 2 parts consisting in an inner and an outer. Gently tap out the inner dowel and then the outer comes out easy and the window can be separated.

Many thanks for that, fingers crossed all goes ok.Thanks again

Got it sorted this morning, and took about 2 hours but wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be
