Help! Centre air vent replacement

Featured Replies

Hi All, I prised off the centre air vent fascia today, but the innards (louvres etc) stayed behind. I tried to clip the air vent fascia back in, but cant get it to clip home. The innards move backwards too much to allow engagement. Can I just pull out the innards and reconnect the assembly together?

I'll reply to my own question then....

So, I managed to get the 'innards' out of the IP. It took a lot of fiddling, but it came out. There are 4 big clips along the top and 4 on the bottom that keep the body in place. Somehow you need to prise all 8 until it comes out. It's quite a task.

I then reassembled the fascia to the main body and reinserted it into the IP.

I have the same issue...was going to start a new thread until I saw this ! I have full heating on everything but the centre vent ! No big deal, but frustrating. The fascia has come away from the vent mech....so I figured I would try & remove the mech...lots of wiggling, but no joy ! Even with the vent ducts open in the mech, I still get no blow ! So i’m Thinking it’s more deeper in the dash than this part ! I’m tempted to leave it...

Yes DJ, it's quite a pig to get out. You need to lever the 8 clips along the top and bottom (4 on the top, 4 on the bottom; my red line goes straight through them.

Anyway, you need to get this main body out of the instrument panel (IP) so that you can reconnect the fascia to the vent body in order to then reassemble into the IP. Without this step, it's pretty much impossible.

What was your secret to pop all the clips simultaneously ?

Hi DJ, no secret, I pulled on the body of the vent and just kept levering up each clip in turn and it slowly but surely came out.
