Diesel like noise during gradual acceleration 1.8t

Featured Replies

Car in question is a vrs 5-speed.  The engine sounds smooth at idle and neutral but at gradual acceleration from low rpm at second gear or above  the cabin sound feels like a Fiat diesel/diesel clatter. Sound like it is coming from the passenger/transmission side. No major repair done recently on the car only routine maintainence.

Any insight?

Whats the condition of DMF?

Exhaust blowing? I recently had to change my down pipe because the flexi joint had gone and like you it was quiet at idle and i could only hear it when the revs increased

Which gives me an idea; Ask a nice exhaust fitter or local garage to look for broken spot weld(s) on the exhaust heat shields.
