About to change jobs and will have to get myself a motor, previously i had been looking at 5 series bmw's as they are reliable and very nice to drive but i have been keeping an eye on Octy VRS's recently as for my budget (

Can't say for definate but would have thought most modern cars if well maintained would reach 130k easy, plus it's vag which also inspires confidence.

Should be no problems at all. As stated modern engines are far better than old ones. As an example my mondeo is on 151,000 miles and still drives like new. Jabba run a tuned 1.8T that has well in excess of 100,000 miles on it.

Well my Octy is 2.5 years old and it has now covered 74K.

It was Jabba re-mapped at 10K and has an FMIC,Full Exhaust,Samco TIP and is also converted to run on LPG.

I intend to run it to at least 200K,my last VAG group car i had had over 250K on the clock when i sold it.

So i wouldn't worry,at least you'll get your money's worth out of it as all the depreciating has been done.

Mine's a 51 plate which I bought with 35k on the clock. It was remapped by Jabba around the 45k and I'm currently at 113k... and I still drive it like a loony, and I plan to do so for another year at least

I picked up an 03 plate vRS with 100k on it for £6.5k if you didn't look at the clock you wouldn't know. There is absolutley no wear on the interior, just a few stonechips on the bonnet. I have been in a couple of other vRS's and can say that there is absolutley no difference in the driving/performance of the lower mileage cars. Just look for the obvious Main Dealer FSH. I spoke to Awesome about a re-map on an engine with this sort of mileage and they were all for it stating that I would get maximum BHP from the map due to the engine been run in.

I also know from past experience with the VW 1781cc lump (Mk1 GTI) that all the VW boyz swear blind that this motor is only run in after 100k.

I bought my vRS with the intention to keep it for 4-5 years and I am in no way worried about the mileage.

If your un sure PM TaviaRS, he ran a highly modded RS to something like 150000 & that included several thousand miles round the nurburg ring. the car was driven shall we say to its limits & beyond. It was a testament to the strength of the RS & when it finally died it was due to a mechanical failure that the dealer should have spotted.

Their are people on Briskoda who have tuned their Rs's to 330 bhp & yet are still running std internals, thats how strong these engines are.

With good maintenace you should not have any problems.

Well, I just bought a VRS with 93k and it is as solid as my Seat Leon with only 20k on the clock.

I had a Vauxhall carlton which did almost 300k and the engine was still supurb when I sold it!

And these are German!!!. Last bloody ages if maintained correctly and not by cowboys.

its a different engine to that one, this ones a 20v and was used from 95 onwards in the audi A4 and eventually got used in most vag cars over the following years including the A6, TT, A3, golf, bora, passat, sharan, octavia, superb, leon, ibiza, beetle, polo and maybe a couple more i've forgotton:)

Found a 2002 plate VRS, 93K miles in Red. Full service history, belt done at 60K, new pads and disks, looks nice and straight. New front tyres, blue flame exhaust and metal dump valve.

Up for £5300, sound a good deal? Going to look at it tonight

£5300 seems a bit steep to me - but I havent looked at prices recently. Knock the seller down to £5k
