Bring back Hot Halogens

Featured Replies

Just kidding :)

I love my LED headlamps, but these sub-zero temperatures mean the headlamps and fog lamps stay steamed up for a long time.

In fact, I’m not sure when they’ll dry out.

After skooshing the side windows this morning, the headlamps needed de-icing to take the icicles off after standing a few days. With the headlamps being so slim, it’s important to clear them properly before setting off on these gloomy days.

Mine don't seem to steam up anymore. They did initially when the car was new, but now after a few thousand miles I rarely see anymore than a slim strip of misting, and then only usually when it's been very wet with deep puddles etc.

This morning they were frozen solid on the outside though so did need clearing externally.

I’m also not having problems with the condensation in the headlights. It might make a difference that I use the car every day of the week, for generally at least 1.5 hours a day, and East Anglia is a pretty dry climate.

I had this problem as well - both headlights & foglights. I emailed few pictures to my dealer - and they asked me to visit service for replacement on guarantee. Next day I had new lights. To be honest I was supprised how fast they solved this problem. But nearest time will verify if they succeesed.

They confirmed that 90% of cars with LED have this problem .... :worried:

why does this problem affect LED lamps more than halogens ?

Much lower temps so doesn’t burn off the moisture.

I agree with as Techle. Lower temps, maybe bad (or not good enough) construction of ventilation - that all.

I would quite happily swap my 90s halogens for LED 😂
