I've had a search on the forum and also trawled through the car menus and the manual...

 

Have they removed the audible alert that beeps/blips/chirps when locking and unlocking the car? 

I can't seem to find the setting anywhere in the settings menus. 

Not essential but I used to like the audible confirmation that something had happened when I pressed the button on the key unit.  The solid clunk of the lock itself seems quite quiet and isn't quite the same as the electronic chirp - and not so clear when a few yards away.

Any thoughts?

It is still there but I seem to remember somebody mentioning that they have gone away from enabling the chirp on newer Skodas. I don't think Audi or VW ever had it enabled from factory anyway.

 

If its not in any of the menus you can find somebody with VCDS to turn it for you

mines under MFD. settings> convenience> ATA   (2010 MY)

 

VAG do like their acronyms, i only found out by accident and thankfully reactivated it after a play

It has to be enabled on the MY19 cars. Can be done via VCDS or ODBEleven I think

I had this on my 2016 220. It was useful for when Id come home with some stuff and maybe had forgotten to lock the car. I could press the button and hear it chirp from the drive without going out. I miss it, in fact I miss it so much on my MY19 that Im going to enable it through OBD11 either tonight when I go shopping or tomorrow afternoon

It was one of the first things I disabled on the last car, glad its gone on this one.

Ha ha I love how opposing some things can be! 

Not sure how true this is as I've only read it on forums but what I've read suggests audible beeps on locking/unlocking are illegal in the UK due to them being classed as an anti social nuisance.

To be fair its all subjective, I would class folks' kids as an antisocial nuisnance too

Love/hate . I turned the chirp off too and coming home leaving home lights. I do feel that having the options is better than not though, then all the lovers and the haters can choose.

What didnt you like about the home lights? I had someone shout after me in morrisons the other day 'excuse me youve left your lights on'

I just find no advantage to having them in my situation, well lit streets and all, I might turn them on if I leave the car in a large airport car park, to help locate the car.

If you blip the lock button twice on the keyfob the coming home lights turn off straight away.
