Fabia VRS Alarm problem.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ive had my 2011 Fabia VRS for almost a week now, very impressive car, has one rather irritating problem, the first engine start after standing overnight results in the alarm activating, once it’s started it refuses to be deactivated with the remote key, I’ve just had to sit it out until it stopped. Multiple starts later in the day do not cause the alarm to activate.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and know how to correct it ?

I had thought to remove the relevant fuse from the fuse box but when I checked the fuse box the appropriate fuse has already been removed so to say the least I’m confused. Can anyone help me out ?

Plenty had the same problem.

On your car it will likely be the Siren Battery finally going dead.

The Service Schedule is to change at 5 years but they can last 7 years or longer.  There are threads where people change the battery and not the complete siren.

In the Roomster Section recently.

I think there might be 2 related fuses No.54 & No.46? I personally corrected the VRS MK2 Fuse diagram and re printed it, as its the wrong way round in the car...LHD (can be confusing)

this matches the book in terms of the numbers.

Thanks guys, sounds about right, a search online shows the built in rechargeable battery is soldered onto the PCB so replacing the battery is probably out of the question. There seem to be quite a few used sirens on ebay for £20-£30 but it’s anybody’s guess how much life is left in them. Managed to find a new one online from a dealer in the Czech Republic (Cars-Equipment.com) for €75 + carriage (about £67) which I assume would be cheaper than a Skoda main dealer would charge, I’ve sent them an enquiry to check it the right one for the VRS.

Thanks for the fuse info Kobayashi, removed the No.54 fuse this morning and it stopped the alarm going off when I started the engine which is what was needed, just out of interest I priced up a replacement siren from my local Skoda dealer, £154, ridiculous for what it is. If I decide to replace it I’ll use the supplier in the Czech Republic at probably less than half the price with carriage. Are there any photos on the forum that show where the siren is located ?

So far I've been lucky having owned a 2000 Passat for 13 years and a 2002 Polo for 13 years - that Passat is getting on for 19 years old and I have not been plagued by its new owner asking if I can fix the alarm!

I think that there is a better/closer solution that uses 2 batteries each with terminals for PCB mounting - the original battery pack is just a couple of these batteries that I mentioned held together with insulating tape. Sorry I can't give the description of these batteries though!

Edit:- here it is " Mempac 3/V150H 3.6V Backup Battery "  remember that 2 batteries are needed.
