Cockpit Decor Dash Kit

Featured Replies

Hello all Fabia Vrs owners,

I need some help in deciding if these cockpit decor dash kits are any good, do they look classy or just like a bit of old tat! If anyone has one of these kits installed I would love to know what they look like, was going to go for the aluminium look. The link is for one on e-bay, let me know what you think.

Make your own with Fablon....

i think it would look ok if you could fit it correctly (ie straight and no bubbles) if you are going to crome the interior my also be good idea to detail some other parts in crome (ie gear shaft surround, gear ****, crome hand break handle etc just to make it look as if it was standard. But that is my opinion, would be interesting to see pics once you have done it though

IMHO I think those types of kit look awful.

I dont think the 'wood look' options will suit a vRs but the aluminium one looks really good. Post some pics when you get it. I might be interested too!

Thanks for all the replies, still undecided but will post pics if I go ahead with the idea.

Hello fellow Briskodians,

Well have decided to go ahead with the cockpit decor, not too sure about the result.

What do you guys and girls think........be honest please!!

I really like it mate, just the vRS interior is far too dark as standard!

Looks excellent. Where from? How much?

looks good mate , how long did it take to turn up from germany, might be interested too ....

Iam not 100% keen on it, although it looks Factory and wouldnt complain if my vrs came like that.

Where did you get the kit from??

Iam wanting a carbon fibre effect kit buy iam worried it will look too dark.

How long did it take you to fit it all??

You asked for it....

(just kidding)

It's not bad I guess, it does brighten up that dark vRS interior for sure!

Personally, I have looked at these kits and always thought that if I bought one I'd not necessarily have fitted the whole kit.

I got hold of just three parts of the kit for my vRS: The air vent surrounds, left right and middle. I am still not sure if I will fit them or not though.

Did your kit come on sticky-back plastic like this pic (below)?

Thanks for your honesty, the kit took ages to get here, almost 4 weeks, the kit itself looked like texasjohns pic, but I decided against putting it in as it had too much laquer on it and made it look shiny, so deciede to spray them with a chrome paint and these are the results. It only took me about half an hour to fit, the only thing missing is the one over the lights due to the kit being a left hand drive. In answer to gtjunior's question I got the kit off e-bay for £35ish bit of a bargain compared to rsdcars price.

Thanks again for your honesty.

I think they look good but then i do have the same dash kit but with the twin lupo cup holder instead of the tray :)

Mind, i took off the bits from the glove compartment and the light switch ! Thought those two bits were over the top..... good quality kits though ;)

I wondered why yours looked less shiny:confused: , you've sprayed them - I didn't notice at first. Good job! I tend to agree that they look too lacquered as they come, though.

Yours certainly look better now I compare pics of the two together, I might think about spraying mine, maybe try and find a paint match for the colour of the top of the gearstick (silvery plastic bit not the leather).

Someone said about the carbon-effect. I considered this kit and decided between the carbon or the alu - wood is surely a no-no for the vRS, so that leaves the choice to alu and carbon fibre effect kits. I imagine that much like the alu effect, the carbon also comes very lacquered and shiny so the carbon effect kit might not be what you want if you didn't want it to look too fake. Thing is, it willlook fake if it is shiny, but is that a bad thing? That's up to the individual, it's their car!!

Carbon might make the already dark interior darker, but when you think about it, it will brighten the interior up if it's lacquered, due to the contrast in textures between the dashboard and the shiny decor. Well, maybe. ;)

However, if you want to go for carbon that doesn't look fake, you could always go for the real thing! Some of these decor kits I see selling for 90 quid! Surely a sheet of CFRP costs less than that?

The Idea is great.. that color would look very nice in the Fabia interior.. but the quality seems to be really soo poor and making it look bad..

I like it! I think the fitting of the bits around the hi-fi isn't too great and shows up more in a lighter colour but that's Skoda's fault, not yours.

It sets off the pedals quite nicely and lightens the centre dash. Only thing I can think of to theme it up a little more is to figure how to get some leather inserts set into the centre console and/or dash, following the thems of the gearstick gaitor and handbrake.

Looks like a proper Blue Peter job imo! The heater controls aren't even in the centre of the holes!!! :thumbdwn:

I'd only go for the vent surrounds and the strips either side of the radio. All the rest is a bit OTT IMO

They look better than I thought they would. Nice try

I have the Carbon kit ordered and waiting for delivery. Looking at the silver one (which I think looks smart) I'm wondering the same as you are. Is it going to be too dark ?

I dont like the raised effect of these kits, they stick out too much, I think they'd look much better if they were just a flat sheet, The carbon would look good if just a flat sheet and not lacquered.

 That's cos the heater controls are eleptical. Look for yourself.

I've been thinking about getting some silver vinyl to do something similar (helps having a mate with a cutting machine and tonnes of vinyl :)

Would be good to get hold of one of these kits to scan it so he could cut the flat vinyl to size and shape easily.

Just an idea :)
