FL 1.6 TDI 7-speed DSG is dry or wet clutch? Q for remaping PFL.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am considering again remapping my PFL 1.6 TDI with 105 HP, but my main concern was dry 7-speed DSG not handling more power.

Does the FL version with 1.6 TDI also have dry clutch? Or is it wet clutch. It is something I miss before. I figured if new the FL model has same gear box it should handle the extra power.

I am looking for power increase for bit more kick, and maybe better fuel consumption. :)

If someone already did power increase on 1.6 TDI with DSG I would appreciate some insight on benefits, both pros and cons.

Thanks!

Still the same.

Dry clutch for everything apart from the 2.0TSi/TDi

Although the facelift 1.6TDi has more power it's torque is still capped to 250NM as gearboxes are rated for torque not power.

Drive a 105 and 115 back to back and there's no difference in day to day driving as it's only at the very top end of the rev range where there is any difference and it's not that noticeable.

The biggest strain on gearboxes and clutches is launching. And for dsg clutches crawling along really slowly. Even if a remap increases the torque as long as you've got mechanical sympathy you're not going to wear the clutches out.
