Turned my car on this morning...

Featured Replies

ASR, ABS Light are ON

The Handbrake light is ON and flashing, along with a beep!

Is there something seriously wrong here or any fixes?

I've just been to the dealership who can't do anything today but suggested I ring the AA.

Could possibly be an issue with your handbrake switch.

Call the AA and stress that you want the fault codes read off the car. Often they send a 3rd party company who only tow and don't have the facility to read codes.

FINALLY!

Someone with the problem too!

It's not really a problem...the only solution is to switch your car on and off a few times and it disappears one by one. Have had this for 3 years but could never get it solved, coz everytime I took it in, it wouldn't be there anymore.

Other than that, I'd think it's ok...mine's done fine!

Fingers crossed its something simple mate. I imagine Stu is right, will more than likely be the handbrake switch or an ABS sensor or something, all warranty fixes. I'm sure Mil would love his to be fixed too - I couldn't tolerate a car with such a problem

I've had the ASR/ABS lights on last month.. the problem was a 2$ fuse :D check that

Sounds like it could be an ABS sensor as the same warning lights come on when you have been on a rolling road, its something to do with the rear wheels been stationary but the fronts are moving so i would think if you have a faulty sensor then the abs will think that wheel is not moving thus putting the light on,just a guess but i'd wait for a reply from ross or see if you can have it hooked up to vag com for a diagnostic check:thumbup:

mine did this after being on the rolling road, went a wee run and then switched it off then on, was fine after that.

My Saab 9-3 did the same after I put it on a rolling road, plenty of warning lights appeared but soon went after a short drive.

(202.5wheel hp, 249lbft).

Been for a short drive, still there. Have noticed the brakes are very noisy and squealing quite badly tho

Sounds like yours is a bit more serious. Try switching your car on an off a couple of times, see if they go off one by one....it's almost like playin a video game.

Eh Tommy, my prablem heappens loike every six months eh so. I really don't tink it's wert my taime to ehctually go to the dealeh to fix a smoahl prablem loike dis eh? (guess the accent? ) :D

Perfectly normal to have ABS lights after a rolling road as the sysem is confused that the front wheels are moving and the rears aren't.

Took it into the dealership yesterday. They read the faults which came up as an ABS problem.

So the car is booked in so they can have a good look at it properly for the day, which will be friday the 7th of April. I'll let you know how I get on.

I was driving it home today on the dual carriageway and the car feels very uneasy. It feels like there is a very strong sidewind making the car "wobble" a bit on the road. I was on a perfectly straight road doing 60, and I concentrated on keeping the car straight but it wants to pull to the left and right.

The brakes are VERY squeaky now, and are making a noise even when my foot is off the brake pedal. Sometimes when I brake the pedal feels very hard immediately, and instead of being progressive I can sometimes feel the pedal "stuttering" it is very strange.

Also the traction control is not working, the light is still on. As is the handbrake light.
