How to fix boot liner/annoying trim rattling

Featured Replies

So two questions rolled into one. Second photo is of carpet boot liner under parcel shelf bracket. It came back from the garage like this a few years ago (along with a broken parcel shelf bracket). The carpet doesn’t stay in place any more. Has anyone got an idea about what I’m going to need to get it looking smart again?

Secondly, there is an annoying plastic rattle, coming from the same area, it sounds like loose trim. I don’t think it’s the carpet given it’s been like it for years and the rattle is fairly new. There’s nothing in the boot to make the noise. I’ve taken (what I’d describe as) rear pillar trim off. There was a collection of screws and bits of junk from when the garage broke the parcel shelf bracket; taken all those out, reattached the trim, and it’s still making a noise.

Ive rescrewed the replaced parcel shelf bracket on, seems tight. Only thing I can see that’s a problem is the “bottom” of the rear pillar trim doesn’t fit back properly (first photo), but it doesn’t seem right to be making the noise it does.

Any thoughts would be helpful

There are two metal clips that push onto the top edge of that carpet and they push into slots in the bottom of the parcel shelf bracket. Looks like the clips are missing from yours.

Clips are 6Y0 867 549
