HELP??? :confused:

After everyone's rave reviews on the eibach springs, I attempted to fit the springs on my new 55 reg fab.

The rears were fitted with no problems, but when I came to fit the front springs, I ran into a bit of bother.

If anyone is familiar and can help, this would help me rectify the fact my car currently resembles a vehicle carrying 3 tons of gold in the boot!

The anti roll bar rod was disconnected, the brake pipe unclipped from the strut along with the main bolt securing the strut to the main assembly. The three bolts at the top of the strut attatching it to the strut turret were then removed.

From here on, I could not get the strut to release from the main brake hub assembly. It moved freely side to side, but it was like it was still attached somehow.

It rained, I got wet and cold and began to have visions of being there at midnight so put it all back together and gave up!

Fancy doing it myself but accept I may just get it done at a garage asap.

Aside from that if you cant figure out how to remove the strut maybe you ought to leave it to someone who does as its quite a vital part of the car.

Ah, great stuff, didn't realise there was a guide. Lowered all other previous cars with no trouble at all but to be fair, the weather wasn't quite as bad.

Just curious as to why the spring needs to be compressed on the front to remove the strut. Isn't there enough clearance to remove it without?

You have to compress the strut on the o/s/f as the driveshaft stops the hub dropping down far enough to lift the strut out of the top. So by compressing the spring you make it shorter and then you can lift it out.

The eibach springs are the first set I've seen with the aluminium ring supplied with them. Has anybody bothered fitting this to the steering rack? Can't imagine there is need to when just going 25mm lower?
