how to reset fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've recently acquired a 17 plate 1.6TDi Estate SE Sport after 10 years away driving Volvos...The amount of technology is quite amazing compared to the 10 plate V50 I've just traded in, though one thing I can't quite get to grips with is a way to quickly reset the fuel consumption on the instrument cluster. It seems not particularly convenient to have to fill up with some diesel in order for this to reset - is there a way to do it manually with just a couple of clicks? I really just want to be able to resest the reading on the display next to the speedo

Reason I'm asking is that the stated consumption from recent weeks seems to be sub 40mpg which has come as a bit of a shock compared to quoted figures, even when taken with a hefty dose of salt. This is also well down on what was consistently achieved with the 1.6 Drive V50 which would average 50mpg around town on a good day.

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this!

Cheers

Neil.

You can do it by holding the scroll wheel in for a second or two when you are on the right tab. Or you can go into the CAR tab on the radio, go to Settings, then Instruments, then scroll to reset since start or reset long term.

Thanks Sasha, I saw an old reply from you on another thread and tried holding in the scroll wheel but it didn't seem to do the trick...will have a closer look at the settings and see if that works for me :)

If it doesn’t, try the long way. That’s how it works on my car now but that’s with the virtual cockpit. I don’t remember how it was with the old cluster!

If it's resetting when you refuel, it sounds like you're on the average consumption display, on the since refuel setting, which will only reset when you refuel.

If you press the wheel (as in a short press), it should change between long term, since start and since refuel. Long press can then reset the long term number (and maybe since start but not tried that).

I usually only display since start numbers on the dash, anything long term I look at on the main screen.
