4th Skoda on order, Karoq Edition 1.5 DSG 4x4

Featured Replies

Well, this will be my fourth Skoda since 2012.

  • 1st, The Yeti, a brilliant car and so much fun. Due to redundancy it was sold as it was nearly out of warranty for a....
  • 2nd Ex demo Octavia VRS hatch, again brilliant for my 150 mile daily commute but due to huge mileage it was sold due to a more local job change for a ...
  • 3rd Show room Fabia SE-L1.2 TSi 110. Brilliant again 3 years and 43+ K miles pass and it's time to move on.
  • 4th Ordered a Karoq Edition 1.5 TSi 4x4 DSG.

I added a few toys to the order. ETA sometime in the summer, late May or June we will see. In the mean time I'll continue to use the Fabia, did I mention it's been a brilliant car for the last 3 years? I'm tempted to keep it as a second car.

This is my first factory order from Skoda,. The others were show room or ex demo. This time I got to specify the options,

Roll on Summer for the new arrival.

I bet you're well excited! Interesting that you're coming from almost exactly the same spec Fabia that I will soon be leaving behind, too (same engine, colour concept - Race Blue and Black were by far the best options). Maybe not the same name though...!

Look forward to seeing the pics once it arrives in Summer - what options did you pick, and most importantly, what colour? Have you got a name lined up for Skoda #4?

Hi Niyx, the new arrival will be in metallic velvet red, a tad different, it would have been nice to get the same colour scheme as the Fabia (Fran) but it's not available. The name has already been thought about, she will be called Katrina,

Major options added include:

  • tow bar
  • rough road package, my commute to Bristol can be littered with road debris
  • heated windscreen, I set out to work early (before 6am to beat early traffic) so I'll no longer be the estate alarm clock clearing the windscreen
  • spare wheel, I had this with the Fabia (Frantishka) , retro fitted to my Yeti (Jana)  and Octavia (Olga) as well. Last summer I had a sidewall blowout in the Fabia's off side rear tyre after a lashing hook fell off a truck in front of me on the M32 at 70, lucky really as only the tyre was damaged. I doubt I'd go for a car again without a spare. Spare lashing hook anyone?
  • driver assistance package, includes active cruise control and and jam assist though I'm not sure which flavours of jam are supported  though :-) Certainly to get to my work in Bristol is full of traffic jams on my way home.
  • virtual pedal, I've lost count how many times I've had to put shopping or other items down in a mucky place just to open the tailgate so I decided to give this a try.
  • Canton sound system. The factory Yeti sound system was pretty good to my ears at least, my move to the Octavia showed a bit of a negative difference to me, the Fabia sound was tested before my purchase so I knew what to expect and I still think it is better balanced setup (to my ears) than my Octavia was. I thought I'd push the boat out this time as I spend a lot of time in the car. The standard sound system was not bad though when I tried a few  tracks off a USB drive I had. Time will tell if I made the right choice on this one.

I'll post some photos when Katrina (Katy?) joins the Hairball household.
