Yeti now covered 125,000 miles

Featured Replies

My wife's Yeti 110 front wheel drive has now done 125,000 miles and we are very happy with the Michelin 225 50 17 V rated 98V Cross Climate tyres we had fitted back in 2016. The front pair are now due for replacing having covered 55,000 miles on the front with just over 2mm of tread and 5mm of tread left on the back ones to date. Had a quote of £555 for four tyres all in. These tyres far outlasted the original ones fitted when new in spite of being softer for winter use with an extra 18,000 miles before they need replacing.

Had just one pair of front discs replaced, cambelt replaced, offside front suspension spring cracked at the bottom replaced and a new gasket to the turbo as it ran and sounded like a clapped out lorry engine.

Love the car and would like to replace it with another 110 but the only ones left seem to be 4 by 4 models which we do not need plus the extra wear and tear. Went down to our dreaded Robinsons dealer in Norwich but as usual all they want when selling a car is PCP so were not interested in selling us a S/H 4 by 4 Yeti for cash let alone drop a few hundred quid off. We purchased our new Yeti from the Colchester Skoda dealer who took off some £800 straight away compared to Robinsons flat zero and were told the demand meant they did not need to drop the price. Looks like the Mrs will be hanging onto the Yeti 110 for a while longer. EGR valve came on twice in that period but just cleared it down with my HEX-V2 VCDS and she put the super grade of diesel in the tank and it has not come up again. Also the firmware upgrade was left well alone and returns on 50 mile journeys to work and back each way 54-55 mpg.

There are 241 2WD 110 diesel Yeti on Autotrader at the moment so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding one you like

Hi Flying Brick.

Well, we almost have two things in common.

I'm not a Yeti owner until tomorrow when I pick up a quartz grey Monte Carlo 1.2 dsg. (Might struggle getting to sleep tonight)

I do however have an infinity with the K100RS. Had 4 of them over the years, 3 X '87's and my current 1990 16 valver.

A bit off topic (especially on a car forum), but thought I'd say hello cos I'm a sociable git :o)

Hi thrupnibits

I purchased my BMW K100RS in 1985 new and have kept it after all these years riding to Cambridge most warm days from Norwich and back apart from some really slippery roads in the winter. It has clocked up over 90,000 miles and apart from using my homemade vacuum gauge set mounted on an alloy plate to clip onto the tank to calibrate the butterfly valves only one camshaft shim change plus a oil/water pump due to the infamous oil seepage through the drain hole was all that was needed. Once the starter relay jammed closed and kept the motor turning over non stop causing the earth wire from the battery to start smoking and fry? Had to quickly get out a spanner and unbolt the wire directly from the battery to stop the motor turning over. Took out the Bosch relay and cleaned up the double point contacts and then back to normal. Always used Hypoy 90 on the gear train recommended by a German engineer and semi 20-50 to help the typical brick smoke out when starting up as the oil seeps past the piston rings if left on the sidestand. Use a BMW 1200RT SE now in old age to take the weight of the wrists for long journeys and travelling aboard. Have always done all the maintenance myself on bikes. Help out in the motorcycle club where I can. Son is only 19 so cannot take over the bikes at the moment.

Hi Gyp

Thanks for that the Mrs wanted to look at one in our local area and of course would love to buy a new 110 hiding away somewhere round the back of a garage or another one with a very low mileage and well looked after in Norfolk/Suffolk area. Spent a couple of weeks chasing around the adverts for a Skoda Fabia MK 2 for my son and wasted hundreds of miles with sellers showing lovely photos and written down as in VGC only to find rust buckets and panel peeling away from corrosion. Just amazed me how some sellers can't even be bothered to clean out the rubbish inside with a vacuum cleaner let alone wash and polish their car. Found a rust free one eventually and still got caught with the passenger side window switch faulty but drivers side all working ok. New one purchased quickly from eBay plus new high power headlamp bulbs for the horrible projector lens fitted on the Sport model.
