Citigo road tax

Featured Replies

Just renewed on behalf of my elderly parents the road tax on there March 18 Citigo Monte Carlo, absolutely stunned at the £145 charge! Double checked on DVLA website & unfortunately it seems to be correct....My 82 year old father has had to go & have a lie down with a stiff drink! His 15 plate Monte that he part exchanged for this one was only £20.

The VED rates all changed in 2017. Basically the first years tax is based on emissions and range from £0 - £2070.  The 2nd year rates are £140 for petrol and diesel cars.

Unfortunately cheap/free road tax is no longer an option for new cars unless they're purely electric - not hybrids

Why did he even bother to replace his 15 reg with an 18 reg in the first place? I assume his annual mileage at his age would be tiny?

You assume incorrectly.

I decided to run a new car but think will keep what was 66 plate car because of increased road tax someone must loose out will continue to pay £20 ved. Mine is citigo se

This is why I have decided to keep my 74 bhp Elegance - £0.00 VED. Treated with TLC and serviced properly (by me, in other words) I could get another 10-12 years out of it.

Lovely...

If you say so. I’m not sure all the other Citigo owners on here would agree with you though...
