Date/Time set by GPS error

Featured Replies

Yesterday evening I started the car and the time was set to midnight, and when I went into settings the date was 01/01/2013. The car was set up to get the time from GPS. I reset time adjustment to manual and reset the date time then reset to GPS retrieval and turned off. I guess I'll see today if things are back to normal. Anyone had a similar experience?

Mine did this a few days ago, I switched it to manual (but didn't change any of the times), exited the menu, opened it again and reselected GPS and it updated back to the correct time.

Very hit and miss letting it set the time via GPS.

You'd think that it would get it right 99.99% of the time, including when you go over to the EURO zone, but it doesn't for some reason. Pretty poor show when you consider the amount of money you're paying for the car.

Not sure why this error occurred but I’m curious if we will have time/date problems soon. From the aviation world:

The GPS navigation message contains date and time information in the form of a sequential week and seconds counter, which first started on 6th January 1980. As the week counter rolls over every 1024 weeks, it will do so on 6th April 2019 for the second time in history.

Was fine today after reset, I've found the GPS setting to have worked perfectly for 18 months up until yesterday, including automatically coping with DST, but it's never been to a different time zone.

Had this on my 2017 Octavia.  Set it to GMT and it was fine but it has now either set to European or GPS.  I know it is an hour ahead and will be right when the clocks change at the end of this month.

My clock has, several times, displayed an apparently random time. It seems to figure itself out after the next ignition cycle. No idea what the issue is and it hasn’t bothered me enough to visit the dealer.
