BKD turbo woes

Featured Replies

Turbo has gone in my Octavia MK2 BKD 2.0tdi mechanic has stripped it down informs me it's chucked a load of engine oil in the pots and it's going to be a bigger job to sort he has to get oil out of chambers etc so head off etc :( anyone else encountered this when a turbo fails ?.

Am I being a little naive here but couldn't a syringe and tube be used to de-oil the pots?

Glow plugs out and crank the engine with the injectors disconnected... I think something doesn't add up.

Unless the engine is hydraulic locked then a bit of oil in the cylinders isn't a big problem? Should burn off within a few minutes.

Thanks for the replies guy's I've got a refurb turbo to go on the mechanic showed me my old turbo the impeller shaft is loose rattling about the mainfold is full of oil he informed me the oil cooler was chocka with oil too along with the cat.All stripped off car today I've told him to replace timing belt along with water pump too as I've had no evidence to say these have been done the belt on the car looks shiney too the car has covered 124k he said it's lucky the engine hadn't locked

Sounds like you're lucky it didn't start running on oil and blow itself up :-)
