Trailer assist activation

Featured Replies

I've had a search on both this section of the forum and also on a wider search, but my results have come back a little lacking unfortunately.

As the title suggests, I'm trying to find out if there is a way of enabling trailer assist. Just so we're on the same hymn sheet, I'm referring to the ability were you're able to tell the car where you want the trailer to go using the mirror adjustment knob and then the car automatically steers itself and the trailer to the desired destination.

On a slightly wider internet search, I found a page which was referring to it being enabled on a Tiguan, but I'm yet to find any such information on how you'd potentially do it on an Octavia.

My car has a factory fitted towbar, park assist and a reversing camera. From a couple of guides on the Tiguan, they are what is needed to get it activated.

I've seen on a German forum (which translates very badly on google) saying you need to get a high line camera. But on my searching, I can't seem to find the difference between a high and lowline camera, plus I'm not finding the way of discovering which camera I have. From what I can understand, one has a washer feature and the other doesn't. But I'm, no doubt, probably barking up the wrong tree.

Now looking at the owners book for the facelift model, the reverse camera appears to have different options, which leads me to believe my car won't be able to have such function.

Can anybody shed a little light on this subject?

This isn't a direct reply to your question but I always thought the highline camera had the changing guidelines.

This is what some of the pages have lead me to believe also. Having the traverse lines appear to be a feature of the highline camera and only having straight lines is what the lowline has to settle for.

BUT............if it's just a camera, can it not be reprogrammed?

My understanding is that low camera goes straight to your stereo and it will show the picture. High camera also has camera module that ads the smart part of moving guide lines (reads steering wheel angle and what ever is needed to bend the lines accurately). Are the  low and high cameras physically the same, I have no idea.
