Electric tailgate won't close

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2015 Superb L&K combi.

Recently, I got replaced the stock rear dIfussor with the original Sportline, I bought. When changing it, the guy only disconnected the virtual pedal antena from the socket below the rear bumper.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but since then, I frequently have a problem with closing the tailgate. It doesn't matter whether I try to close it with the button on the tailgate, or on the key. It just won't close. It makes a sound, like it is trying to, but nothing happens. And then - sometimes it works properly. So I don't think that it is blocked by anything mechanically. Nor electrically, since it works sometimes.

I had it on my friend's diagnostics today and it didn't show any error at all.

He reseted it, it went down beeping once (like it was loading a new path) then it worked a few times. And when I locked the car and unlocked after a several minutes, it didn't work again.

Please help, how could I solve this?

Strange thing is, that sometimes it works properly and sometimes it doesn't (then I try some combinations - unlocking, locking, setting new height position, again un/locking...and then it finally closes).

Thank you!

If it quacks like a Duck and walks like a Duck the chances are it’s not a dog.....

Thank you. What is your advise?

That is strange behaviour indeed.

I too have changed my rear diffusor to the Sportline version with no issues.

I only had to disconnect the virtual pedal and parking sensors.

Nothing around or near the tailgate.

Did they connect the virtual pedal connector properly?

It might b going bonkers every now n then, and hence confusing the operation of the tailgate in terms of opening & closing.

That the guy that did the work probably broke something.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, the question is, if it has anything to do with the diffusor change, or it is just a coincidence and it´s a separate problem.

They connected everything, although it displayed that the virtual pedal is not connected. Then they tried to connect it again, measured the cables, if they aren´t broken. And the virtual pedal started to work properly.

Only the closing is now the problem :-/

If they initially had a problem on reconnection I would think it is very likely that it is them that have messed it up.

I would go back and ask them to sort it out.

The virtual pedal can also b used to close the boot.

Sounds like they stuffed something up when they were putting things back.

Below r some pics to show u the virtual pedal sensors/strips and how they should b positioned inside the rear diffusor.

Thank you guys for your replies. Next week I´m going to official Skoda diagnostics to see what they can find out.

@JR RS Thank you for the pictures, I appreciate it. Yes, the sensors/antenas are exactly as you posted. They even are a marks where to glue it back on the new diffusor.

I´ll see what they say in Skoda. Here I was hoping for some "trick" - if the virtual pedal was disconnected, maybe it has to learn the path, or pair in some way again.

Thanx

It's the same virtual pedal sensor - so nothing new to learn/pair.

Car doesn't know u have a different diffusor ;-)

Good luck.
