Servicing Lancashire

Featured Replies

We have a Fabia Mk 3 that we have owned from new, April 2016, that is coming up for its first MOT and an Oil and Inspection Service. The car has only covered 6800 miles since we got it (yes we should get out more) and had a rather expensive but not too comprehensive service a year ago at our local dealer.

Not too keen to give them money for nothing this year so does anyone know of a trustworthy dealer out there for our final service during the warranty period? Looking no further than 25 miles away say Morcambe north and similar east and south.

Not sure if this is out of range I use

They also do monthly payment service plans.

Thanks. How long have you used them for please and why do you recommend them?

Cheers

I've used them now for over 7 years now, since they moved to Taylor Street.

James and a friend ( he left about 5 years ago) have always worked on VW with their garage in another part of Darwen until it was redeveloped

They're very helpful point out any faults that require resolving and advise of any potential problems.

They are VAG focused , the owner James is ex VAG trained technician.

5 years ago they started the monthly service scheme which I find convenient.

Since his friend left James had built up the business for MOT, Remapping, VAG plus other vehicle marks Computer diagnosis and latest equipment. Increase his workforce , technicians , MOT specialists admin staff. Everyone is very friendly , helpful.

Try them for a service for yourself , they have courtesy cars.

Regards

Ken

Quick update.

Had the mot and service done to VW standards, £154 all-in; took just about an hour and a half. They checked the brake fluid quality as Skoda say it should be changed after two years, but advised that it didn't need swapping as it was fine. It hadn't been done by the main dealer at the two-year service.

Had a little wander round Darwen but not much to see at 8:30am.

Anyone in the area not fancying paying dealership prices but wanting the job done properly without being charged for unnecessary work should consider LodgeBank.  Well worth the little drive from Preston.

@Flopsy

Sounds like the service checks were better than VW / Skoda main dealer servicing if they actually checked the Brake Fluid for H20 content.

Skoda offer is Oil / Filter Service and inspection for £99 & MOT £39. (@ participating dealers)

*Brake Fluid changes are not part of a service at 2 years old unless you pay £54 for it,

and the same if you follow Manufacturers Guidelines and do it first @ 3 years. But you need to be asked if you want it, or say you do and pay.*

Skoda / VW Guidelines are first Brake Fluid change at 3 years then each 2 years.

So if OK at 3 years and checked, you want it checked again annually / or change it, it is a preventative servicing measure.

If there is going to be moisture / H20 it can be from 3 years on.

Up until a few years back (about 2010) on Mk2 Fabia it was brake fluid change @ 2 years from new.
