Not so clever - sharp taillight

Featured Replies

I don’t know if this has been mentioned before, but Just giving the Kodiaq it’s first wash, wax and seal and found to my detriment that the bottom edge of the triangular rear lamp cluster (particularly the right hand side) on the boot is razor sharp!

I shaved a small piece of skin off the top of my right hand index finger next to the fingernail - blood, sweat, tears and polish. Sharp looks or looks sharp!

I feel like moaning to Skoda UK about this as it’s either shoddy quality control or poor design, and I wouldn’t like anyone else to fall foul of the built in meat slicer.

Some small amount of work is required to take the edge off it a bit to prevent a repeat performance.

No issues here, washed car 3 times now and polished tailgate as I debadged it.

Hi Greenliner - See my post.

@mantrahalos Thanks, I thought I saw it somewhere but it obviously didn’t sink in!

Did you get it sorted by the dealer or did you dress it yourself? I’m sure we’ll be both be very careful round the rear lamp clusters now. It shouldn’t happen on any design for a product, poor show Skoda.

My finger is quite sore, but I’m reasonably sure I’ll live.

Thanks again

I’ve never noticed this , however the badges used to be a nightmare for ripping polishing cloths and anything else that comes in contact

@C2atb, all agreed with badges, my microfibre cloth kept snagging too. I thought that I might damage the badge. This wasn’t an issue on the Octavia or Yeti.

I've just ignored it.  No point going to dealer when they are all the  same. Just a poor design. As you can imagine, I'm much more careful when washing it now though.

Haven't drawn blood washing the Bear.

But did once rip a chunk off my hand on a previous Mini screen, from where the end of the chrome plastic trim strip slipped out and Got Me as a wiped down the screen.

Sharp as a knife. Was a Bloody Mess I tell you.

I sometimes wipe the engine compartment over following a wash and checking fluid levels etc, on most cars the underside of the bonnet has lots of sharp edges so extreme caution is required.

I’ve not it needed on the Kodiaq yet, it has the underbonnet insulation so we’ll see.
