TRANSFORMATION TO GAS

Buena idea si le conviene y le ahorraría dinero.

¿En qué país estás, qué motor tienes y estás pensando en hacerlo o hay instaladores que lo harán?

En el Reino Unido es LPG y no hay GNC disponible realmente.

I am in SPAIN, (MADRID) my car is a 1.4 TSI 150 hp DSG of the year 2017 and yes, I am determined to do it, When I pass the warranty that I have contracted 60,000 km I do, currently I have 42,000 km. and I will transform it to LPG, it costs between 1500 and 2000 euros, and then the HOMOLOGATION of the Ministry of Industry,
Here, in my area (FUENLABRADA), there are 3 workshops that do it,
the LPG costs here 0.72 Euro / liter and gasoline 1.30 euro / liter the car needs to have (it is not necessary because they would put a deposit in the trunk) the space for the spare wheel so you do not lose capacity in the trunk. The deposit would be about 55 liters.
The car would go with the two fuels (GAS AND PETROL) start with gasoline and when it goes hot gas, if you run out of gas, continues with gasoline automatically, so you double the autonomy

@MALCSOR

You had best talk to the people that do the conversions, but do you do enough miles to make it worth while?

I had a Land Rover with a 4.6 V8 automatic that only ran on LPG and started on it, no petrol tank, and i did not need a tachograph for use for Gain or Reward (commercial use towing)

because it just had alternative fuel.  I had a LPG tank that gave it over 600 mile range, but then that is a very different kind of engine, and LPG was 50 pence a litre and petrol was £1 a litre, because the engine was built to run with LPG i had no issues and it did not use twice as much LPG as petrol.

Can you convert a tsi, which is a direct injection engine? I'm inclined to think its probably next to impossible.

I think the ACT would also make it very complicated  or impossible.

There is the Prins direct liquid injection that uses most of the injection plumbing and electronics of the direct petrol direct injection - can't see why that woud not work with ACT on the direct injection only engine (1.4,1.5). Doubt if it would work with the latest 2.0 petrol engines as they have both direct and port petrol injection.

I have asked in a company here in Spain that is dedicated to this and they have given me this answer
"Good afternoon, Manuel,

First of all, thank you for your interest in installing the iRCONGAS LPG systems to adapt the operation of your Skoda Kodiaq from 2018 to Autogas.

Let me inform you that at present we do not have LPG equipment to transform direct injection engines, as is the case of the engine that mounts your vehicle.

However, we are closing agreements with new manufacturers that do develop dedicated GLIT KIT for the transformation of direct injection engines, which will allow us to offer this new line of products in the coming months.

If you do not mind, we will resume your request, contacting you when we have product availability.

If you have any questions or need more information it will be a pleasure to help you,

Thank you,
A greeting.

so we'll wait for them to reach agreements,
but for power, IF you can

It seems that currently the issue is not the ACT, instead engine injection. Some dealers are working on it and very soon, there will be a kit for our models. For me its not a problem because my warranty is 4 years (or 60000km) so I can wait for it.

The truth is that with this update my car will be better than a diesel car and we'll decrease the number of liters every 100km.

Well, continuing with this topic, I asked a company here in MADRID (SPAIN) and IF you can, this is your answer and a budget that I have been given.

Good morning Manuel:
According to your request and, without first confirming the availability of the equipment with the technical sheet of the vehicle (surely we do have it), I enclose the budget to transform your vehicle to Autogás GLP with the homologation included.
Comment also that in Madrid Capital, the IVTM (Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles) has a bonus of 75% on this tax. In the case of other town councils belonging to the Community of Madrid or other Autonomous Communities, this bonus may vary according to the city council (you would have to check this bonus at your corresponding town hall as recorded in the vehicle's Circulation Permit).
On the other hand, all transformed vehicles that comply with the Euro 4 or higher polluting gas regulations (vehicles manufactured from 2006), will be treated as vehicles of the ECO category (sticker with a green and blue sticker) having a 50% discount in the regulated parking (blue and green area), circulate inside the almond of Madrid on the days of traffic restriction due to high pollution as well as circulate in the bus-vao lane.
As you will see, there are more and more advantages that we will obtain all those that circulate with ecological vehicles.
The brand of the team is PRINS, they are Dutch, and without any doubt, the best brand that exists in the market with much difference for its enormous quality and high technology in all its components. In fact, as I know, to date is the only manufacturer that has direct injection equipment for the vast majority of vehicles that exist in the market.
The guarantee of the Prins equipment of gasified direct injection is of 3 years in all the components.
The main advantage of our Prins equipment with respect to other equipment on the market, lies in the additional consumption of gasoline that all direct injection engines have, since our equipment has a maximum consumption of 4 liters. of gasoline every 1,000 Kms. compared to those of other brands whose consumption is proven to be two gas tanks and one gas tank. You can imagine, therefore, the great difference that there is in saving fuel.
In addition, the injectors of Prins are authentic injectors of gas, of the mark Keihin, manufactured in Japan in collaboration with Prins, that guarantee an optimum mileage of more than 240,000 Kms. The injectors of other manufacturers, have an estimated half-life of about 100,000 Kms. And that must be changed with the consequent high expense.
The control unit that regulates the gas system electronics is manufactured by Bosch especially and in collaboration with Prins.
On the other hand, the maintenance of these equipment where the gas filter kit is changed, is at 25,000kms in the first revision and later every 75,000kms. or 2 years
At the same time, as maintenance and to protect the fuel injectors in the direct injection engines, it is necessary to add a pot of Injector Care additive of Prins in the filling of each gas tank. That is, each time the gas tank indicates that it is already in the reserve, we must take the additive bottle and refill the gas tank (this refueling has been approximately every 10,000 kilometers depending on the time it takes). circulate in gas and / or gasoline).
Therefore, the cost of gas equipment maintenance can be considered very low or insignificant.
The gas tank is a toroidal up to 60 Lts. that would be located in the hollow of the spare wheel.
Also to mention the possibility of financing the installation in 12 months without interest or expenses of any kind through Repsol Autogas.
It can be financed, either with Caixa Finance Consumer, with a maximum limit of € 3,000. Or with the Santander Finance Consumer with amounts that even exceed € 3,000.
If you have any questions or queries do not hesitate to call me.
Finally, let me tell you that we are proud to receive good comments about our equipment and the assemblies of them.
Honestly, the success that we are or not satisfied with the vehicle transformed into LPG, lies fundamentally in the choice of a good team (and Prins is the best) and an excellent installation of it and, to date, all our customers are delighted and congratulate us for that.
I hope that this budget is to your liking and I am waiting for your news.
Thank you very much for contacting us.
Sincerely,
