Number plate screws/bolts

Featured Replies

Hi.

Just got my car and I will be fitting my private plates fairly soon. The car came with stick on plates from the dealer so once I rip those off can anyone tell me what screw holes are under there. I’m assuming at the back there will be proper holes for bolts to go in. What about at the front. A lot of cars take self tappers at the front but I know some also have proper fixing holes. Is that the case on the superb. Also can anyone help me out with the size of screw/bolt needed? Are they M8’s?

Thanks.

The front just screws into the plastic bumper so self-tappers (with white/black caps) will work.

The rear has two plastic clips that take the corresponding black/yellow plastic number plate fixings. You'll have to figure out the hole spacing though as my dealer had screwed them on for me and I used the original plate as a template when drilling my private plate.

My dealer kindly used randomly placed self tappers front and rear on mine (including an extra unused set of rear holes just left as bare metal) so I just used sticky pads when I put mine on - they won’t need to come off for a few years anyway...

Digging up this old threat I posted.  I managed to get regular nylon/plastic bolts to fit by cutting them down as the holes on the rear of the car are fairly shallow.  However these have work themselves loose a couple of times, not sure if it is due to them being cut down or not.  Anyway I wondered if anyone could shed any light on the correct screws/bolts for the rear plates.  Are they specific ones I need to source from Skoda or are they just a custom length etc?

Thanks.

I had to shorten mine too, but they have stayed put...
