Usually around 75kg unless anyone knows differently.:notme:

You'll be fine with 4 bikes on the roof. Look at what the French do.....Image result for skoda superb le tour de france

As it is an estate, maybe you want to carry 2 bikes in the cargo area using the Skoda inside bike carrier . Especially true if some of the bikes are very fragile (carbon bikes on a rooftop always makes me nervous) ?

I use a Thule unit fitted to the towbar, got fed up with reaching up on my Allroad, also most carparks we visit for woodland rides have 2.1M barriers so parking was an arse. I'm much happier now, been up to Scotland and Norfolk with three bikes on the back, it has provision for a fourth. Still got the roof bars and carrier, but prefer the tow bar option now.

Hi Thanks all, i fitted some roof racks and some Thule 591 racks,

i thought about getting the thule bike carrier but would need to get a tow bar fitted

If you do, I bought mine from PF Jones and can recommend the company for a good quality item delivered quickly.

It is slightly different to ones I’ve seen fitted to Skoda from factory, more like the one my A6 Allroad came with from the factory, very well made and dead easy to fit/remove the lockable ball arm.

The spare wheel polystyrene insert is already shaped to accept the ball arm for storage and the 13 pin plug just folds up out of the way to give a clean look when it’s not needed.

I went for the removable Westfalia unit with 13 pin EU plug and additional fridge wiring (not that I need that now I have a second battery in the boot with a DC to DC charger) .

Its the same ecu made by Hella or Continental can’t remember that VWG use from factory fit, it does need to be added to gateway and a few ECUs coded to get the correct functions to work so it turns off the rear park sensors and shows a trailer image on the Columbus when selecting reverse, among other things.

I removed the horrid fixed unit the car came with (kept catching my shins on it) sold it and it’s wiring on to offset the cost a little.

Dead easy to fit if you take your time and follow the instructions, lots of trims to remove though.
