Chrome trim catching

Featured Replies

Hi, when I open my drivers door, more often than not, the chrome trim is catching the trim form the passanger door and pulling it out of it's holder/rail. Is this a common problem??

I wonder does it need a new trim or does the drivers door need to be adjusted at the hindge?

Hi

Yes Had it on mine , took it off and refited now seems ok. The problem is the trim expands in hot weather needs to move back a bit.

Fairly common problem in earlier cars sadly, though most seem to have had it resolved under warranty. There was quite a lot of discussion on here about it. This thread might help.

I had this problem. The dealer replaced the trim FOC about six months ago. The last couple of days, it's been catching again, but only occasionally so I won't bother the dealer with it yet.

Thanks for the replys lads.

I'll take it to the dealer........it came with a 12 month Skoda used car warranty,

They fixed the Chrome trim issues from MY17 onwards.

Different design.

I would speak to the salesman who sold it you, as the used car warranty doesnt cover trims.  Service department are unlikely to stump up the cost of replacement

They done a temp fix and have the parts ordered, car booked in to be done in 2 weeks under warranty. Very pleased with the way my local dealer has dealt with it.

Right, my dealer replaced the trim yesterday.......fair play to them no charge (even for the loan car)...........new problem now, went to use the drivers side window and it barely moves, very laboured and slow operation.

Booked back into the dealers for Friday, they said that the door had to be taken apart to fit the new trim and the rubbers are soaked in a soapy solution to aid with the refitting and they claim this must have dried/cured sticky and is impedeing the free movement of the door glass.

All will be revealed on Friday!!!!!
