Performance upgrades on a 2.0CR tdi 150bhp?

Featured Replies

Two years on, I’m very happy with the Octavia but I’m curious about increasing the power from 150bhp and perhaps also the ride height / suspension and brakes.

If anyone has any advice and or experience of this then I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

My last Mk 3 I got a remap, k&n air filter and ebc yellow stuff pads and discs all round.

AmD remap on our 2013 Mk3 Octavia went from 147 to 186bhp and torque went from 246 to 317lb/ft. Top speed increased from 135 to 150mph and fuel economy still 70mpg on a run. Best when standard was 71mpg.

I wouldn’t know exactly where to start with this. Did you get it all done at once? Would there be a logical order to this? I’d like to drop the suspension a little without ruining the ride. Thanks for your comments

How much and how would an AmD remap be arranged? I like the torque figures there. I’m wondering whether I’d need to adjust the brakes and suspension to cope with the additional power. Trying to work out what the costs might be. Thanks for your comments, really helpful!

I done it in stages. Air filter is bout £60 ish direct from k&n.

Brakes cost me bout £400 ish direct from ebc but they need to know the size of the discs front and rear.

Id take your time and do a little bit. Don’t want to empty your bank account!

£500 but you can spread the cost interest free over 12 months. Deposit £50 plus £37.49 x 12 payments. Contact Ben or Shaun on 01708-861827. They are in Grays, Essex RM20 3XD.

My previous cat was also 2.0CR tdi 150bhp and the brakes were the only modification which i did. Tbh they were far from great, the on with higher power (184bhp) has also bigger disks - 312 compared to 288mm.

You have plenty of options for the front:

  • 320 mm with floating calipers. Very nice improvement. Main benefit is price and the fact that it fits just under genuine 16 in wheel. (OEM and plenty of aftermarket options for rotors and pads)
  • 320 mm with 4 pot brembo calipers. Fixed caliper - great upgrade over stock floaters in terms of feel and modulation. Downside is that you will need spacers to fit them with genuine wheels. (OEM and plenty of aftermarket options for rotors and pads)
  • 345 mm - again float and 4 pot brembo calipers. Same situation as for the 320 mm.
  • 340 mm calipers from vRS with single piece or two piece rotors. Also a very nice setup, although a bit on the expensive side due to lack of used vRS calipers.
  • 360 and up multipiston calipers (6 or 8 piston) with fully floating disks....

List can go on, the question is what do you want to achieve with the brakes upgrade and how much are you willing to spend :)

Additionally there are few options for rears - mainly going ventilated...
