Scratch marks

Featured Replies

Giving car interior a clean today and have noticed when wiping dust off the piano black high gloss gear stick surround it is very noticeably scratched. Tried cleaning it with a soft cloth but the surface is so soft its made it worse. Wondering how to repair, renew or replace with another material like carbon rap. Really annoyed about this. What rubbish quality.

It’s the same on all cars with this trim. Some polish with a plush edgeless microfibre will sort it. The fake carbon style trim on the PFL vRS is exactly the same.

I have found microfibre cloths do this to gloss plastic, especially the cheap nasty ones. Same thing happened to my TV, gave it one gentle wipe and its like you have used sand paper

Guess when it gets dusty again I'll leave it. Disappointed.

I use an old soft T-shirt, haven't found anything softer to date, the exterior gloss bits on door pillars were scratched from day 1, exceptionally poor quality parts

+1 for Quixx. I used it to sort out the piano black trim in my last car - a fantastic result.

I've used the micro mesh system for years, mainly on smoked Perspex panels fitted to bang and Olufsen Hifi kit - works well and lasts forever. Do a Flightstore search and then micromesh.

Its used mainly to remove cockpit cover fogging, suppose it would also work on headlight covers - never had need to try it!
