Silly Problem

Featured Replies

I'm having an odd problem on my Fabia, it's allways been there but it is really annoying and I was wondering if anyone had the same problem. My Car wont rev on the biting point of the clutch. As I pull out of the driveway even if I press my foot flat to the floor it will jump around 1k-900RPM. Does anyone know what causes this, I keep stalling and it's embarrasing:O When the clutch is fully out or in it's fine, you just cant ride the clutch:confused:

If you let go of the accelerator does the car just pull along with no driver input, or does it stall (slow speeds obviously)?

No it Just stalls:mad:

So what happens if you boot if before you release the clutch - I assume it goes to 6k? Then if you leave it around 5k and release the clutch, what happens? Sudden drop in revs and near-stall?

The car isnt a VRS though and I wouldnt have thought a petrol Fabia would be able to pull itself along like that ;)

No it does 20MPH in 5th with no throttle:thumbup:

if I revved it to 6k, which have done, theres alot of revs, but not alot of wheelspin, Like the clutch doesent let go of the car very quickly if you know what I mean. IE You pull away like an old lady:O

Also Just to add from one of the post above, If you boot it just as the clutch is being released, nothing will happen, Theres no response from the engine, Clutch fully in, it will redline as normal

What happens when driving up hills?

Nothing, all fine

I had one of the first 1.4 8v and hated the clutch. Really spoiled the car. It was like a switch either on or off and it meant you could not feed it in which made pulling away a clutch slipping affair and also made gearchanges very jerky which was embarrasing with passengers "honestly it's not me it's the clutch". All my mates tried it and agreed it was crap. I tried several different cars and they were all the same. My mate has a 51 plate and that is the same. You can't adjust it because it's hydraulic.
