I do 30miles of lanes to & from work every day, and have noticed over the last week just how hot - not warm, my discs are getting...

...20mins after i got home last night they were still warm enough to steam when i was rinsing the car down! :eek:

Makes me wonder how hot they're gonna get in the summer on hot days & what my brake fluid must be like!!

Should i be worried or should i bask in the steam coming from my wheels on splashing through the ford on the way to work?...

Mine too used to get like this but it's gone away now, have you recently fitted new pads or discs?

Na this is a totally std vRS setup No new stuff since bought last February, done 15k miles.

Have considered upgrading to 312s but don't want to go down the modding route cause of insurance...(I can't be arsed with theiving insurance companies telling me i've got bigger brakes/engine so i'm gonna crash/race )

Brakes juddering under repeated heavy braking?

I've been quite hard on them deliberately over the last few journeys to check they're ok, there's no fade, no noticable judder and no problems, it just concerns me how hot they're getting. Don't wanna warp or crack me discs if i can help it

Maybe it's normal, i bet most drivers don't prod their brakes with a wetted finger after a hard days work

It's all that torque taking me from corner to corner! Maybe i'm being harder on them than i think

I think you should monitor it to see if it gets worse over the next few weeks. My brakes steam if I spray water over them just after driving (can't imagine it's that good for the brakes tbh). You'll know when there's a real issue if they are steaming & have that burning smell when you park up

At least the start point & end point of my journey is ok for me to loose the brakes

But, yes, i will be monitoring them quite closely as the weather warms up - i may find that they don't get any hotter...
