Squeaky front suspension

Featured Replies

My 2003 VRs has a squeak on the front drivers side when I go over speed ramps or big pottholes (West Yorkshire:thumbdwn: ). When the car is stood and I bounce it up and down their is no squeak at all, any ideas?

try bouncing it up and down, with the steering wheel fully turned to either side. I have the same squeak in my 4x4, but only when the weather is extremely hot and when the wheel is fully turned.

Still dont have absolute idea about how to fix it.

Anti-roll bar drop links?

Mine does this too, and whenever I shut one of the front doors it squeaks.. I went round the car pushing bits and shaking things.. eventually think I got it down the the radiator when I asked SWMBO to shut the doors whilst I had my head under the bonnet.. I don't think its anything to worry about on mine and might be worth looking at on yours? (unless anyone else thinks otherwise?)

Bushes on the front ARB.

Bushes on the front ARB.

:iagree:

Drop links tend to cause clonking/knocking rather than creaking ;)

My 03 vRS makes same squeaky noise over speed bumps. I can't get it to make the noise any other time. Not much help I'm afraid but at least you know your not alone....and so do I now!

Creaking ARB bushes are common on Octavia VRS's

Front ARB Bushes are the cause, just sprayed them with WD40 and the squeak stopped temporarily, it is now back after a 5 mile run however!!

Could this mean I will have to start upgrading my car because they are on the way out or will they be ok? Just need an excuse to get on the modification slope!;)

Fairy liquid works quite well too ;) No.... seriously, it does!

If i take a speed bump straight on, both front wheels will lift at the same time. In which case, you're not putting pressure on the ARB, and should eliminate the ARB bushes from the list, and i'm still getting those sounds

What else could it be?

If its a creak it WILL be a bush somewhere.

It's been hissing it down today and the squeak has gone! will have to get the car jacked up and try the fairy liquid trick and see if that cures it long term:rolleyes:

Its the radiator mounts imo. Had the same symptoms on my RS, replaced under warrenty and now its back again 6 months l8r.:(

Noisy rad mounts can be easily cured by wedging some rubber or pipe lagging (cloth type stuff, not polystyrene ) under the rad. Mine was done in this manner 15k miles ago and its been fine ever since.
